Vehicle Detail

1948 International Harvester KB-2 Panel Truck Here we have an IH large-capacity, stream-lined, deluxe, panel body (7.5ft) truck. This is original in its mileage of 34,XXX and condition. Drive-train, interior, seats and gauges include the optional passenger seat and visor along with wiper to match. The pictures of the interior show the original 5/8” plywood floor, treated from the factory, to prevent moisture absorption, with steel wear strips. All of this in the original IH dark green paint, one of only four offered colors; maroon, red and black being the others. The outside was originally the same dark green. Sometime in the late 60's it was repainted this red color which you see mixed with the primer and original paint as it has worn over the years. It has the original 214 Green Diamond 82 hp engine with a 10" clutch and a 4-speed transmission, first gear being a very low ratio (granny). This truck has its original cloth wrapped wiring. (That is a good indication of its original low mileage condition and care, having been kept indoors most of its life.) It has a 6-volt positive ground system with a 30 amp generator; down draft carburetor with oil bath air cleaner; four wheel hydraulic brakes with drive shaft (loc-lever) emergency brake; cargo doors on the rear that give access to the rear cargo hold; and split windscreen roll out windshield that cranks in and out as it should. In addition, there is the cowl vent that pops up for summertime air. The original factory heater and fan works as do all gauges and lights. The cord wrapped around the horn is to power a block heater. The tires on this truck are many years old and have the same amount of air in them that they did when he bought it. So, they do hold air but are very old. The spare tire also comes with this truck. We have included a box of chrome pieces to complete the grill. The fuel tank is not rusty, the fuel in it has been kept fresh over the years occasionally being driven and this truck starts promptly within 2 engine revolutions and runs out smoothly as the transmission shifts just as nicely. Keep in mind this is not a synchromesh transmission and requires "double-clutching" between each gear. If you don't know what this is, the old timers can learn ya. This truck weighs in at roughly 2300 pounds with a cargo/payload capacity of 1190 pounds. The NADA book rates this trucks value at $4900-$21,500. An article from the 1995 “Collectible Automoblie” magazine is included with this truck. It is extensive with really fine pictures. Also included is an original brochure with some nice pictures and a factory IH window label from the Indianapolis Works (it was in the glove box when Dad bought it).Below is a video showing it starting up and that the gauges work with a brief description and another video of the engine bay so that you can hear how well it runs. Dad bought this from a couple in Washington State who, he was told, bought it from the original owners in Minnesota with it having been kept indoors its whole life. This would explain the lack of rust on the body. This elderly couple had full intention of restoring this but soon the woman’s husband died. Dad then had full intentions of restoring it to its original splendor but with having so many of these trucks he never quite got to it. Therefore, we offer this up for sale hoping someone will take this solid vehicle and put it back to its original glory. Please feel free to ask any questions and know that we will do our best to be of help to you in purchasing this fine truck. We have sold some of Dad’s collection in the past and previous buyers have been pleased with their purchases.
