Vehicle Detail
Selling a 1965 Porsche 912/911. This car originally came from British Columbia and the owner sold it to me when he moved to Saskatchewan because of health reasons. ENGINE: A rebuilt 2.7L 911 engine was professionally installed at Prairie Autohaus in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and has maybe 10 miles on it. It was completed just prior to storing it for the winter and we have had a cold rainy spring so haven't been able to drive it much. The engine does need to be broken in and smokes a bit now. Prairie Autohaus advised me to bring the car back after a few thousand miles to make sure the engine is working properly and adjust the valves free of charge and will be transferred to the new owner. There is an occasional pop in the carb that could be due to old gas because the shop cleaned the carbs when it was in there. TRANNY: The 5 speed 901 transmission shifts are sloppy, was told by the shop that it needs shifter bushings. It does go in all 5 gears and will stay in, but just a little sloppy getting there. ELECTRICAL : The original wiring is in the car. It does have a slow drain somewhere that I haven't looked for. I just disconnect the battery if I don't drive it for a few days. I bought a new deep cycle battery for the car this year. All headlights, signal lights, brake, interior and hazzard lights work fine. BRAKES: I had the shop go through the brakes while the new engine was being installed. They installed a new master cylinder and a few other parts for a total of $1800+ so the brakes work perfect now. WHEELS/TIRES : The fuchs rims are in very good shape and tires have lots of life left in them. EXTERIOR: I had the car painted 2 years ago and looks very good. The hood has a crack from the bondo they used and I am waiting for the body shop to fit me in to get it fixed so may be fixed by the end of the auction. It was a $3000 paint job so its respectable. Floors are solid and have truck bedliner applied, engine and trunk area are solid and I told the body shop to get rid of all rust everywhere and so far haven't found any. There are a few blemishes in the paint from painting process and bad buffing, I am hoping to get that fixed as well. INTERIOR: The whole interior has been replaced so it looks brand new. New carpet, newer ford power lumbar seats, new door upholstery, new door handles and arm rests. There is sound deadener applied to the doors and floors prior to upholstery. SUSPENSION/STEERING: The steering is a little sloppy. I have been shopping for a new steering rack thinking it was the problem but I am not sure what needs to be looked at. The suspension seems to be fine. It rides a little rough, but corners like its on rails. I have always wanted a classic Porsche, but just don't have the time or resources to finish this car properly. All the hard work has been done. I have over $13,000 spent on this car this year alone, not including paint, bodywork and numerous other parts needing replacing over the years. I will include all receipts and extra parts/ paperwork, manuals etc that I have collected. I have a lot of porsche literature including an original Car and Driver article on the 1965 Porsche 911. I would love to keep the car but I need a truck as a first priority so if anyone wants a partial trade on a 2009 or newer Chev 1/2 ton crew cab I would consider it. The car was appraised at over $25,000 by my insurance company and I am just about to renew it so I can get some paperwork to verify that. I will also help with exporting or shipping in any way possible. Car will be listed locally so auction may end at any time. A $500 non refundable deposit will be required at the end of the auction. Any questions just ask. Porsche will be driven whenever possible so mileage may change. Vehicle is free of any leins and in my name. A bill of sale and copy of registration will be provided. On May-12-11 at 19:32:14 PDT, seller added the following information: Here is a website for importing a vehicle into the USA. http://www.nhtsa.gov/cars/rules/import/ There is a part where you can apply to have a vehicle imported for show or display. This car would certainly qualify being that it is the first year of this body style and with the rear engine boxer style air cooled motor as well as a 1965 vehicle having 4 disk brakes. Not to mention being made in Germany. If the car is paid in full I can store it in my garage under a car cover for a few months until the new owner gets paperwork finalized.
