I am selling my 1947 Dodge Pickup Truck. The vehicle is a 2 owner short bed that is all original except for 1 re-spray and a diamond metal bed. The fellow I bought it from purchased it from the grandson of the original owner . He had it for a couple years and after painting it he installed a frame mounted trailer hitch (included in sale), and towed a small vintage Scotty camper throughout CT and RI. I bought it last fall to hot rod but after thinking it through feel it is too original and correct to chop so am offering it up to someone who would like a Vintage Dodge in terrific shape. I will do my best to describe the truck to the best of my ability. Although it runs great and has no issues I can see, please remember it is 64 years old so there will be no warranty and shipping will be paid by the new owner, although I will help in any way possible to load etc. In our state of CT, vehicles over 25 years of age have no titles, so I will give 2 bills of sale; 1-official CT version and one by me upon receipt of funds. Body is in excellent condition with a beautiful driver quality paint job that shines great. There are no rust spots, nicks or scratches visible. Bed is a diamond plate that has been painted a flat black and has a custom fit rubber mat. I do not see evidence of tons of bondo. Running boards are solid. Floorboards have small amount of rust but nothing that needs any immediate attention. Bumpers are fine and underside is clean as above. Glass appears to be all original with the FANTASTIC OPTION OF A CRANK OUT WINDSHIELD! All windows crank as they should. Tires are 16" Firestones that show some slight cracking but they are tube types so not an issue and as I said the previous owner drove it everywhere without hesitation. Interior is original and although functional, would need to be replaced if you want show quality. The seat could use some more padding and a recover but this is an easy and inexpensive fix. I saw no reason to replace at this time. Dash is solid and all gauges but speedometer/odometer work fine, even the GAS GAGUE! The speedometer dial has come loose is why it does not work but can probably be easily fixed. Mileage shown is 46,000 which I was told was original but can not prove it. Wiper motor is not hooked up so I do not know if it is working but have seen them for $25.00 or less on Ebay if it needs to be replaced. Heater and Defroster work so well they will drive you out of the truck! Blinkers have been added and work fine as well. Oil Pressure and voltage gauge work great and show excellent pressure and charging ability. Motor and Drivetrain are Fantastic. The purr of the flathead six reminds you just how great these old Mopars were. The motor, transmission (3 speed on floor) and drive train are original to truck and are all in great shape. If they have not been rebuilt then they have been well maintained, as there are no issues what so ever with any of them. Just installed a brand new heavy duty 6 volt battery, new points, condenser, cap etc., and rebuilt the generator. Starts up on first try every time and runs so quiet you have to check to see that it is running. Motor does not smoke. Truck is geared low as they were back then so 50-55 is probably top end but with a rear end switch you could get higher speeds. Granny gear is strong enough to climb a tree! All in all a very smooth running truck with plenty of life left as is. I have done my best to detail the truck but probably forgot something so please ask questions, as my mind reading skills are poor. As stated, shipping is buyers responsibility but I will help in any way possible. I can send extra pictures if requested but please no tire kickers as time is limited. Vehicle is for sale locally so I reserve right to end auction at any time if I receive an adequate offer. My reserve is very reasonable.
