You are bidding on a piece of history. This 1957 Chevy pickup is a CIVIL DEFENSE vehicle from the Cold War era! I graduated from high school in 57, so I lived through that time in our history. My main objective was to leave it as is, and focus on repairing what was needed to make it a SAFE daily driver, which is what I did. BACKGROUND I purchased the truck at a government GSA auction in 2007. It appears that it spent it’s life in Western Nebraska (Sand Hills) in a town called Lisco. REPAIRS COMPLETED ENGINE WAS REBUILT ($1,000) NEW WATER PUMP NEW RADIATOR NEW STARTER (HAVE ORIGINAL) I wanted to upgraded to PUSH button start, but kept the foot stomper in place. Can be converted back to original with ease. UPGRADED THE CARB – HAVE ORIGINAL NEW – RADIATOR HOSES, FAN BELT, THERMOSTAT NEW BATTERY NEAR NEW TIRES ORIGINAL OPERATORS MANUAL BRAKES: I have never looked at the brakes, as they work perfectly. However, the right front started squeaking, so they need to be looked at in the near future. No leaks at any of the wheel cylinders. HEATER is out of truck, but is complete. Fan switch was broken - have replacement, heater core repaired, etc. ROOF and SEAT need repairs WIRING/ELECTRICAL EVERYTHING IS WORKING: LIGHTS, TURN SIGNALS, HORN. BOTH SPOT LIGHTS WORK, BUT ARE NOT WIRED AT THIS TIME I have not driven the truck more than a couple of hundred miles overall. BODY CONDITION The pictures tell most of the story, as I am sure it spent it’s life in a fire barn in Lisco Nebraska. The only patch panel work required is the REAR of front fenders, and BOTH cab corners. THE FLOOR, HINGE POCKETS, ETC ARE SOLID AS A ROCK. The condition of this truck is a RARE exception, wood floor in box is original! The pictures should give you a great idea as to the condidtion of the truck. I can take more on request.
