Vehicle Detail

***Please see bottom (below description and above options list) for updates******Ebay isn't letting me post but one question so answers are posted there as well***Hey everyone. I’m putting my prized 2001 Camaro Super Sport (SS) triple black convertible up for sale. Car has 125,XXX miles. I drive the car regularly but only on nice sunny days and it’s always stored in doors. I just moved to Memphis from Illinois for my new job and I’m wanting to get something with a little less miles and a little newer. Car has an LS1 346 cubic inch 5.7 Litre V8 engine backed by a 4L60E transmission with a 3.23 limited slip differential gears. Entire drivetrain AND car are 100% original or with original replacement parts with the exception of the Magnaflow stainless catback exhaust I installed a few months ago. Car has a clear CarFax history report with no incidence what so ever. Never been wrecked. Car has an absolutely pristine black leather interior with only a small hole in the passenger seat (I think a “friend” sat there with a screwdriver in their back pocket.) This tear is pictured. Back seats look to be brand new. Car has 500 Watt factory installed Monsoon sound system with leather wrapped steering wheel and steering wheel controls and CD player. I’ve owned this car since 88,000 miles and have only had minimal problems with it. Right after I first bought it, the thermostat went out (it didn't overheat though because I caught it in time) and a few months ago the fuel pump went out (that’s the reason for the new exhaust.) All parts were replaced by me (I’m not a mechanic but I have a masters in mechanical engineering) with brand new factory parts. Fuel pump was $650 from dealer. Exhaust was around $800. Car is mechanically very sound but the AC Freon compressor will need to be replaced along with a new AC belt ($300-$350 for parts on ebay.) I would drive this car anywhere and I have. In the past year alone car has done a lap around the infamous Indianapolis Raceway and it has also destroyed the Tail of the Dragon in Eastern TN. I love taking trips with the top down the whole way. Regular oil and filter changes have always been performed by me but I am good friends with the owner before me (he was the second owner that owned vehicle for 4 years, I’m the third) and he had always taken it the GM dealer in our home town. Engine pulls like crazy and has monstrous power. Transmission shifts well and hard. Power top is in perfect condition with no fading, rips, tears, or evidence of seam wear. Drop the top really fast with the push of a button without even getting out of the car. Has heated back glass as well. Headlight lenses were just replaced with new factory originals a few months ago to restore the front end appearance. Car has never been in a wreck but it is older and does have a lot of miles so it does have the occasional paint blemish or scratch. Windshield was replaced about a year and a half ago (sparkplug from my Mom’s supercharged Corvette slipped out of my hand and landed point first in the middle of the windshield and cracked it all the way down the center.) I think it’s a PPG windshield as per my request but I can’t remember if they actually used that. New iridium plugs were put in when I first bought it. New Continental tires with a W speed rating (186mph) were installed about a year and a half ago but one just got replaced 2 months ago due to a nail in the side wall (can’t patch those.) Tread is at about 40% because I put about 20,000 miles a year on this. Car has a very solid suspension and steering system. Car is completely factory stock and still has 130mph speed limiter (I've never been close to hitting it.) Car is never abused and never redlined. New factory window motors were installed and the original tracks were well greased by me. Camaros are notorious for bad window motors because of the heavy glass but you won’t have to worry about that now. I realize that Tennessee has emissions tests conducted on all cars. This won’t be a problem because this Camaro was factory recalled for new catalytic converters two years ago. Emissions will not be a problem and in fact I just had the vehicle emissions and safety inspected a few days ago here in Memphis and it passed without issue. If you live in Memphis and register the car in the next 2 months you will not have to get it inspected. The factory installed PBR four wheel disk brakes with ABS can stop this car on a dime in any weather. I repainted them with gray caliper paint about 2 years ago and they still look presentable. Brake pads are Duralast Gold Ceramic in good condition. Last year check engine light kept coming on due to a vacuum leak; I thought it was the intake gaskets so I replaced all of the intake gaskets as well as a new oil sending unit. It ended up being a vacuum line going to the throttle body so that was replaced as well. Car was originally purchased in Southfield Michigan and has spent the majority of its life in Paris Illinois but is never driven in the winter. Underbody is still in very good condition with only samples of surface rust in some places (I’m being very critical on this one.) I’ve include a copy of the options list this car is equipped with below but what you should know is that this car came from the factory with every available option but chrome rims and the multidisc CD player. As far as Street Legal Performance (SLP) options for all you Camaro/TA fans out there, I’m afraid this car has none. It’s a base SS #0488 from SLP although it is a fleet car which is rare. I believe there were approximately 112 cars black SS convertible automatics produced in this year. For a little history on this esteemed car, 2001 was the lowest production year for Camaro EVER! Partly because of declining sales but also because the 2002 model year started early to introduce the 35th anniversary car. That means this car will be worth some serious money later down the road. Also new for 2001 from previous years, Chevrolet omitted the exhaust gas recirculation valve (EGR valve) which means more power to the ground. Also, for 2001 and 2002, Chevrolet put their LS6 intake on all LS1 engines (lots lots more power) so this car has the very sought after LS6 composite intake manifold. I believe you should know what you are buying and not be surprised. Issues with car: Car needs new AC Freon compressor and belt. Sometimes when it’s really cold outside and the engine is cold you can hear what I think is a lifter tick in the engine but it goes away when the engine is warm (can’t even hear it most of the time.) This issue was there when I bought the car 30,000+ miles ago and hasn't been any worse in all those miles. The driver door has a foot long scratch on it and the end is of the door is messed up slightly (looks like someone opened Camaro door into something.) This is pictured. It's not very notable so I've never had it fixed although I've been quoted $300 for repair and paint from multiple reputable shops. Sometimes when it’s cold outside you can hear the rear bushings squeak. That’s it other than regular paint wear. Driving on the highway I get about 25 mpg although I have seen 26. City is about 20 mpg. Mixed is around 22 mpg. Engine has advertised 325 horsepower but in actuality it’s about 345. Transmission is a 4L60E, 4 speed, electronic shift, overdrive. Everything is factory virgin original never been messed with. That’s about all that I can think of off the top of my head. Car is absolutely gorgeous and I get complemented on it every day. Literally! I will not trade nor will I ship. I do not need to sell this car, I just want to. Message me with questions, requests for more pictures, request for my number, or to view the car. DO NOT CONTACT ME OTHERWISE! Car is sold AS-IS and does not have a warranty expressed or implied. Car is located in downtown Memphis. If you are the winning bidder then I’d be more than happy to pick you up from the Memphis International Airport to take receipt of the car. I have two sets of keys and one fob along with a clear title in hand. I’m willing to travel up to 30 miles to deliver car. I require a $500 deposit immediately upon auction end and the remainder MUST be paid in cash. I've worked very hard to provide you with all the details of my personal vehicle please do not bid without intentions upon paying. Must have a feedback minimum of 10 or contact me before for permission. Before bidding on something else, ask yourself, do they go into this much detail or know this much about the history of their car? Probably not. You get what you pay for. ***Updates***There is an approximate 4" diameter hole in drivers side carpet from someone driving without mats. Custom SS mats cover this area up without issue.***Answers to questions***Car doesn't smoke whatsoever. Oil pressure is right where it needs to be at any engine speed. Car could sit all winter and not even create a puff of smoke at all.Car leaks no fluids at all. Not a drop. Undercarriage is nice and dry.Car doesn't shake when going down the road. Steering is tight and very responsive. Little to no play in steeringUndercarriage minimal surface rust is just that. Take a wire brush to bottom side and paint it and it will look brand new. Surface rust only present on front skid which is typical.Brakes are powerful and quick. They have the ability to throw someone into the steering wheel at highway speeds if hit hard enough. If you were to compare this vehicle to when it first rolled off the assembly line the things that would be different are: Different brand filters Magnaflow stainless catback exhaust Lug nut caps are black and not grey (I liked the black ones more) Different brand of tiresI have locking lug nut socket Car weatherstrip sometimes leaks when raining on driver side at intersection of windshield-window-top. Never enough to pool in seat or anything. Just sometimes drips a little when the rain hits it at the right angle. Yes, headlight lens are brand new.
