Vehicle Detail

When was the last time you saw a 1955 Buick Century Estate Wagon? This is one nice original car. A very nice patina to it overall. Well cared for with only 4 owners from new 56 years ago. There were only 4200 of this Model ever built making it rare from day one, and near impossible to find in this condition today. In the last few years the car has benefited from many thousands of dollars(over 10k) in Mechanical restoration. The original Nailhead 322 was rebuilt, same with carb, generator, starter etc.. Next the Dynaflow Automatic (awesome transmission as you never feel them shift, very smooth)was completely professionally rebuilt (it does mark its spot a bit, but very little now that I have been driving it regularly). All brakes are new all the way around. Oil pressure is very good, no smoking, nice smooth idle. Motor really sounds great. Plenty of power too. In fact with the suspension it drives like a modern car. Power Steering and Power brakes make it a pleasure to drive. It goes down the road nice and straight and can handle freeway speeds with ease (and then some). The rear end has a howl at high speeds so that will need to be addressed at some point in the future? But mechanically that is all I can think that could need attention. Electrical is in very good condition, all lights, gauges etc are in great working order, with the exception of the clock and fuel gauge needs a sending unit (float?) The dash lights up like a Christmas Tree. Even the radio works and sounds good. The dash is mint as is the steering wheel. Seats are nice original. Driver area of front seat is torn up goo on bottom. Carpets are faded. I personally would not restore the interior, it is very cool as is. Headliner is mint. Needs new dome light cover (it there but cracked). Door panels look great. All power windows WORK, and work well, go completely up and down and the speed is like a modern car, very cool. Power seat works too. As does heater, defroster etc.. Tires are nearly new, front end has newer bushings. Steers nice and straigh down the road with no pulling. Wheather stripping is good as is window rubber. Front windshield has a spider crack. All other glass is very good. Rear door is nice and rust free- not even a blister in the bottom edge like most you would see. As for the body is it SOLID, and I mean it. I will attach more photos of the undercarrige in the next day or so, it will blow you away how dry this car is. No blistering anywhere on this car. Front driver side floorboard has a soft spot and that is it in the floorboards. And body itself does not even have a blister. It does have a couple of dents/dings which can be seen in the photos, all minor. There is a spot of primer on the bottom of the passenger front fender, this area was damaged from a curb or something, not rust. Rockers are perfect all the way down, all original weep holes are perfect, no rust at all. The car was originally Cream(top), Cream(hood, sides) and Green under the lower trim. It had one repaint probably over 30 years ago or more and the bottom green was covered. It can be seen on the door edges still to give you an idea of color. Was really a stunning car when new with this color combo and interior. I have clear CA title so shipping anywhere is not a problem. It cost $350 to get it to the Los Angeles area ports and $225 to oakland ,CA port. Please ask questions before bidding. Paypal for deposit, cash in person or bank wire for balance only.On May-07-11 at 10:26:33 PDT, seller added the following information: Here is a link to more photos and a video of the engine running- http://rides.webshots.com/photo/2658999470067287234wOVcQl You will have to cut and paste link to your browser. On May-07-11 at 10:30:41 PDT, seller added the following information: There is a crease in the passenger quarter panel just above the the Century Nameplate that does not show very well in the photos. It got backed into in a parking lot. It popped back out but the crease is there. I don't like surprises so I don't want the buyer to have one either. Already had multiple offers to end the listing early. That is what the "buy it now" is for.
