Vehicle Detail
1989 Cadillac Brougham 5.0 Liter V-8 (307) 4bbl. History of ownership: Automobile dealer (used) and 20-year member of the Cadillac & LaSalle Club offering an exceptionally fine condition Cadillac Brougham from my personal collection. This vehicle was traded in on a new Cadillac on June 30, 2007 at the very same Cadillac dealer who sold the car new. It is a one owner car, still on the original title dated September 7, 1989 with 121 miles at the time of issuance. I acquired this car on July 25, 2007 with odometer reading of 60,231 and now has 63,768. This Cadillac Brougham is in truly remarkable original condition in every respect. The worst criticism that could be lodged against it is that it has a few negligibly small nicks appearing in the 1" wide area of body color in the header panel that separates the headlamps from the grille. Otherwise, all exterior surfaces are visually excellent; even the original finish on the hood and trunk is in a remarkable state of preservation. All exterior chrome and brightwork is incredibly sharp and mirrorlike. The vinyl roof is perfect and still retains its original gloss without the need for any "shine" products that in my experience do far more harm than good. The interior is equally impressive and among the best I've ever seen. The leather is glove-soft and free of cracking/splitting and thankfully has never been subjected to harsh overcleaning or any of the aforementioned commercial products that "shellac" the leather/vinyl surfaces. I could go on all day on this subject but suffice to say that I've come across numerous interiors that have been ruined by well-intentioned owners using these products. I strictly follow the Cadillac owner's manual for cleaning leather: Mild soap and water. Period. All chrome-plated plastic trim on the dashboard is excellent and free of staining from improper cleaning. All rubber body filler panels and weather stripping are soft and pliable with no signs of disintegration whatsoever. Story behind the Auto Restorer magazine article: To mark the 20th anniversary of Auto Restorer magazine, the editor wished to have a 1989 vehicle to be featured on the cover of the January 2009 issue. However, there were simply no restorations performed on any 1989 vehicles known to the editors or the staff and all inquires proved fruitless. It was then decided to go "180 degrees" in the opposite direction and profile an essentially all original car. A local photographer and automotive journalist who regularly contributes to Auto Restorer, Old Cars Weekly and Hemmings Motor News had seen this Brougham and contacted me to feature my car in Auto Restorer for their 20th anniversary issue. He said he always admired the RWD Cadillac Broughams and liked this particular color, Claret. Although not strictly within the bounds of the subject matter normally covered by Auto Restorer magazine, the subject would nevertheless provide a brief look into the history of the Cadillac Brougham, a body style that lasted well over a decade and provide reference to those wishing to restore one as well. The photo shoot took place in October 2008 and took up most of the day. The sky was overcast which was ideal for photographing a dark colored car. The article is about 5 full pages with many photos throughout and look as if they were done by Cadillac itself for use in advertising brochures. I was interviewed for the article about this car and it was a very enjoyable experience. This important document shall accompany the purchase of this car. As much as I hate to part with this car (and my black '89 Brougham sold earlier), the simple fact remains that I've recently acquired other vehicles and simply cannot accomodate the indoor storage space for all of them. It's time to move on but I assure you, I have given this Cadillac the best of care for the last four years, and without a doubt is a car you can enjoy with pride for years and years. It is among the last Cadillacs built with any claim of distinction and in time they will get the recognition they deserve. While I have used reasonable diligence in describing this listing with the greatest accuracy, it is impossible to note every single detail within a limited amount of space. Therefore, please message me should you have any additional questions/concerns and I'll do my best to assist in any way I can. Thanks for your interest. ************************PLEASE NOTE: $500.00 DEPOSIT REQUIRED WITHIN 48 HOURS OF AUCTION CLOSE************************************* **PURCHASER SHALL BEAR RESPONSIBILITY FOR ALL SHIPPING/TRANSPORTATION ARRANGEMENTS AND ALL ASSOCIATED COSTS** *****PURCHASER SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY APPLICABLE TAXES, REGISTRATION/LICENSING COSTS AND RELATED COSTS**** PENNSYLVANIA RESIDENTS MUST PAY 6% SALES TAX; RESIDENTS OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA AND ALLEGHENY COUNTY PENNSYLVANIA RESIDENTS MUST PAY 7% STATE SALES TAX.
