Vehicle Detail
1989 Cadillac Brougham 5.0 Liter (307 4bbl) V-8 Brief history of ownership: Automobile dealer (used) and Cadillac collector offering one of the vehicles in my personal collection. This is an exceptionally fine ORIGINAL PAINT Cadillac Brougham in the rare color combination of black, black vinyl roof on black leather interior. I acquired this vehicle on January 4, 2003 at which time the car registered 56,889 miles and has accumulated an additional 5,000 miles since. The previous owner purchased this car on November 7, 1996 with only 15,001 miles from a funeral home who purchased this car new. This is absolutely one of the nicest Broughams of this vintage around. The original paint shows very well, however it does exhibit the checking so typical of black GM lacquer on the hood; to a far lesser degree on the trunk. Elsewhere, the body paint has no issues. I only use Meguire's products on my cars and can honestly say that the hood apperars virtually perfect when first polished and will remain so for up to a month with limited sun exposure. I have fought the temptation to have the hood refinished since it is still an all original paint car and for all practical purposes, it is completely acceptable. I will leave the decision to refinish to the next owner but I'd advise against that. Keep in mind the car was NOT polished since last year and the photos show just as it is out of it's annual winter hibernation. This car has never had any rust and the doorjambs and door seams (bottom of doors) bear testimony to that. Undercarriage is equally clean, just as you would expect a gently used Cadillac to appear with no signs or decay other than general patina; engine compartment is exceptionally nice as well. Bumper chrome and all exterior brightwork is very nice and sharp. The interior is also extremely well preserved with a slight touch of wear on the driver's (as always) seat. The standard Brougham seats from 1987-1992 were never quite as durable as either the d'Elegance leather seats or those of the 1986 and earlier years (regular leather interior) in my experience with these cars. But again, I'm being extra particular as I would not wish to mislead anyone into thinking this is a brand new car. If you demand that level of perfection, this is not your car. Examples of that caliber will likely run you at least $15,000 and probably closer to $20,000 or higher for a under 1,000 mile car, especially if you're lucky enough to find a triple black d'Elegance w/leather and Astroroof. I know of an individual who specializes in "brand new in wrapper" Cadillacs such as this and I'd be happy to furnish his name and website info if you're interested. However, you could never drive a car like that as you would incur huge depreciation. This car, on the other hand, may be driven with pride without that type of worry and I can attest that this car has received the best care that I could give during my 8 years of ownership. Mechanically, the car is strong and uses no oil between 3,000 mile changes. All power equipment including air conditioning and power antenna in working order. Original vinyl roof is in excellent condition with no signs of drying out. Body sides are laser straight, needless to say. Original factory applied painted pinstripe (red) is perfect. All routine service work was performed as needed with recent carburetor rebuild, intake manifold gasket, brakes and so forth. Car is turn key and road ready. These Broughams are getting scarcer as many continue to be driven daily being comfortable large rear wheel drive cars, the likes of which will never be produced. They are the last of the truly distinctive Cadillacs and remain a handsome body style to this day. They are relatively easy to maintain, with reasonable road manners and a pleasure to operate with fuel cost no higher than so many SUVs that are all over the place. I have used reasonable diligence to describe this vehicle in as accurate manner as possible, however it is virtually impossible to note every detail in a reasonable amount of space. Therefore, please message me should you need any additional information and I'll do my best to assist in any way I can. PLEASE NOTE: $500.00 DEPOSIT REQUIRED WITHIN 48 HOURS OF AUCTION CLOSE VIA PAY PAL. BUYER SHALL BEAR ALL SHIPPING COSTS, FINAL LICENSING FEES, APPLICABLE TAXES, TAGS, REGISTRATION COSTS ETC.
