Vehicle Detail

One of the rarest Porsche 912 cars restored to original factory specifications, finished in showroom quality condition. This is a factory original '65 sunroof coupe, one of the very few produced, survived, and rebuilt superbly. Not one thing has been carried over without being refurbished in some serious way. This car is for a serious buyer only, please respect my time and contact only if you intend on buying. Interior The carpet is original German wool, $78/meter. The seats are saddle colored leather, the same used in early Ferrari cars. The gauges have all been sent out, repainted and rebuilt with new lights. Shifter has been re-chromed, base powdercoated, bolts cadium plated. Brand new seat belts. All hardware cadmium plated in yellow or silver. Headliner is all correct with the zipper across allowing access to the fully functional sunroof motor and transmission. The transmission is new and the cables are new as well. Pedal cluster rebuilt, new floorboards for both sides. Seat recliner brackets have been stripped, coppered and triple chrome plated. The seat rails are cad plated yellow and the brackets are powdercoated gloss black. Heater vents plated as well. An early Blaupunkt radio has been installed for asthetics but is not functional. All new door sills (rubber and aluminum). Cadmium plated and rebuilt striker plates, early style correct for this year. Hood and decklid locks and latches have all been acid washed and cadmium plated in silver. Exterior We kept everything on the exterior to near exact factory specifications including the original color code (6406). ALL exterior chrome has been stripped, copper plated and then triple chrome plated. ALL new body/window seals/rubber, light lenses, horn grilles, decco, script, etc. All of the lights are correct for the year, and added halogen driving lights for improved visibility. Headlights rebuilt with original Hella lenses and cad plated buckets. If you prefer the frosted H4 style lenses, these can be exchanged. We deleted the "912" script from the rear decklid to keep the car as clean as possible. Drivetrain/Suspension The original matching motor (#741965) underwent a complete rebuild featuring a new crankshaft, bearings, pistons, barrels and rings. Both heads rebuilt, valves replaced and adjusted, both weber carbs rebuilt. Rebuilt distributor, new coil and ignition system, rebuilt fuel pump, new oil pump. All sheet metal powdercoated, all hardware cadmium plated. All new seals, rubber, new clutch, new pressure plate, new release bearing, rebuilt 5 speed trans. Original sport exhaust and heat exchangers ceramic plated in mint condition. All new shocks and struts, suspension removed from chassis, dismantled, sandblasted and powdercoated and then rebuilt with ALL new bushings. Ride height lowered to European specifications. Brake master rebuilt. All four brake calipers rebuilt. All brand new brake lines. Vehicle comes with a clean title in my name. For your reference, see item #150555098737, which happens to be the April 2011 Porsche registry calendar car. This is my second piece to be featured. I have two cars that are on the registry's paint code table. This is a final auction sale, NOT an opportunity to close in on a price and then "view" the car. Once the listing ends, the car is sold, payment is due, and no more questions will be answered.
