1950 CHEVROLET Short bed Pickup ORIGINAL 6 VOLT POWER Title and Numbers I have a clear title on the Truck. The Title numbers come from the engine and the engine numbers match the numbers on the title. The Engine is A 216 cubic inch, six cylinder Engine. It's Serial Number is HBA409130 and it is stamped on the block behind the Distributor. From this number we know that the engine was made for a 1950 Chevrolet half ton pickup. The engine was made in Flint Michigan. It has 6 cylinders. 216 cubic inch. 92 horse power at 3600RPM. Compression Ratio is 6.6:1. The Trucks Serial Number is on the drives door frame 3HPD-10752. From this number we know that the Truck was made in ST. Louis Missouri in April of 1950. It is a 3100 1/2 ton Pick-up with a wheel base of 116 inches. The odometer shows to have 68000 miles this could be 168000? Truck history I got this from a coworker. He had the truck for 16 years. The last 11 years the truck had been parked in his garage. Before he parked it in his garage the truck was his daily driver. When I got the truck we put a new battery on it and tried to start it. It did start and run as long as we put gas in the carburetor. Repairs We have made several improvements to this truck in the last year. Cleaned the Carburetor. Installed a brand new gas tank, sending unit, fuel pump and fuel filter. Replaced the battery and battery box. Rebuilt all the brake cylinders and master cylinder. Installed new brake lines and cables. Replaced both side windows and all of the window/door seals and gaskets. Replaced the back window and window rubber. New seat cover, floor mate, door panels. Replaced 90% of the wiring in the truck (the wires going to the lights was in very bad shape). New distributor cap, coil, points, wires. Changed the oil in the motor, transmission and rear-end. New radiator hoses. I put a list of all the new parts below. Most of the parts come from www.ClassicParts.com Good News After we got the truck running we have been driving it around town. The truck is easy to start and runs great. The three speed shifter on the column works great. The truck brakes and turns easy. The heater works. The motor has good power and has been running without any problem. All the lights work. Installed a new flasher and turn signal. The windshield wipers work, they run off vacuum and at times are very slow. Things you need to know about The 61 year truck does have some rust spots. At the back of the cab in the lower corners. The cab floor pan has been patched, not replaced. Drivers side behind the front finder. Inside the cab on the inner cowl panels. When I got the Truck the Wood in the bed had been taken out and was on top of some ply wood. I cleaned up the wood and reinstalled it. The wood has a few bad spots.(please look at all the photos) There is an oil leak at the back of the transmission. The emergency brake does not work. The speedometer does not work, The odometer and all the other gauges work. This part of the bed was repaired before I got the truck and they did not get the metal bracket level when they installed it.
