Up for sale is a 1963 Studebaker Avanti R1. Vehicle has been stored since 1970 when the owner had the car repainted in it's original black color. The owner wasn't satisfied with the paint work so he removed it from the body shop and stuck it in his garage. He decided to rebuild the carb. as it ran fine but was hesitating on accel., I think he got in over his head and never got it rebuilt, It's sitting in a box in pieces with the car for the last 41 years. Life happened, 3 kids, work etc... too many responsibilities, and that was the last of his having fun with the Avanti. Some of the parts have been lost years ago, both headlight assemblies, some of the hood hinge parts, I think one of the parking lights, and center front bumper section. This is a 72,000 mile car, 289 Studebaker V8 4 barrel, automatic. There is an old oil change sticker from 1969 on the door with 70,000 miles on it. The engine oil is pretty clean, the trans fluid is red, the engine does turn over by hand, the brakes are down and the tires are shot. The car is an original Black exterior with an Orange/Tan interior. The interior is in pretty nice condition although it is very dirty, some wear on the drivers seat and the carpet, and some of the stitching is coming apart. The dash and controls are beautiful, steering wheel is super nice, chrome on window frames, glass and door handles are very nice, weatherstripping is still soft and supple, remember this car hasn't seen the sun in 41 years. The exhaust had rotted so we removed it and kept the tailpipe chrome tips, the frame has rust scale from being stored but has no soft spots. I have the original key, I think, with the Avanti keychain, the original owners manual, an old parts manual and service manual. We don't have to sell this car, we're not even sure we want to, but just have too many Iron's in the fire. I will not sell any parts off the car and have no extra's so please don't bother asking. I do have new NOS front bumper ends for the car and some misc. other parts like the chrome air cleaner, and the chrome distributor cover and plug wire covers.
