Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a 1977 MG Midget. It has been sitting in a carport here in South Georgia for the past 12 years and has not been driven during that time. The engine does turn over easily but we were unable to start it because we couldn't get any gas to the carburetor. It has a Weber 2-barrel carb and a Mountney steering wheel, which is in very nice condition. Otherwise, everything else appears to be stock. Rust-wise, there are obvious rust holes along the rockers, bottoms of fenders, along top of left front fender, and a few other places that show up in the pictures. The floor of the cockpit and trunk are completely intact with no rust holes anywhere, surprisingly enough. The spring perches are excellent too. In general, almost all the rust on the car can be seen in the pictures. I suspect the rust pattern is from rain collecting in the crevices where the car sat in the carport, and didn't rust the floors because the interior was fairly waterproof. (The stuff that might look like holes in the two pictures of the bottom of the car is actually just undercoating that's peeling off.) The interior is not too bad. It just needs a good cleaning. The tonneau cover and top cover both look like they've never been on the car. They are still nice and shiny like new with no tears or cuts anywhere in them. The zippers will need some oil or cleaning as they are hard to work. It has all 5 Rostyle wheels with the 4 center caps. This car can either be restored or might make an excellent donor car because it has all the original parts in fairly good condition. I think the '77 Midgets also have the very desirable 3.7 to 1 rearend ratio too, which are worth $500 by themselves. I expect payment within 5 days of the end of the auction. The car can be picked up after your check has cleared my bank. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer, but I can give the names of a couple good, reliable shippers if you wish. Buyer will be given a Bill of Sale and the 1998 Georgia Registration, which was the last time the car was registered. Georgia doesn’t issue Titles for cars this old.
