Vehicle Detail

1984 Hurst Oldsmobile Pro Street 455 Reasonable Rides and Rods presents this 1984 Hurst Olds Pro Street beauty. This car was built several years ago, but still is in great condition. Starting with a real one of 3500 Hurst Olds produced, the car was built to be driven on the street and has excellent street manors. The car is equipped with all of the original accessories including: power steering, power brakes, power windows and locks, power sunroof, and ice cold a/c. The cruise control has been disconnected. The interior is totally original and stock, including the lightning rod shifter. Everything works on the car and it can be driven daily, if so desired. The original 307 was replaced with and Olds 455 (casting 396021F). The engine only has about 1500 miles on it. It was bored .20 over with hypereutectic pistons. The engine is equipped with Edelbrock aluminum heads, Edelbrock Torker 455 intake, Competition Hi Energy 284 cam, roller rockers, headers, and Edelbrock 750 CFM carburetor. A vacuum canister has been added to ensure there is adequate vacuum for the accessories. There is also a NOS 250 HP nitrous system in place, although the bottle has never been filled. The engine is estimated to be around 500 HP, not including the nitrous system. It has tremendous torque. The compression ratio is around 10:1 and easily runs on pump gas. The engine runs excellent and does not leak, smoke, or make any unusual noises. The engine is backed by a built 700R4 overdrive automatic transmission, equipped with a 2500 stall converter. The overdrive makes for excellent cruising at highway speeds. The fuel system consists of a 12 gallon fuel cell and electric pump. There is an adjustable fuel regulator located in the engine compartment. The suspension consists of a stock front and Competition Engineering rear. The car has been back-halved and tubbed. The rear suspension work is outstanding, as can be seen in the pictures. The rear end is a narrowed Ford nine inch with 4.11 gears and coil-over shocks. The brakes consist of front and rear disc. The paint on the car is in very good condition. While not necessarily show quality, it has a great shine and is very nice. It does not appear that the car has ever had any body damage, and all of the panels are straight. There are several chips that have been touched up on the car, as could be expected from use. Overall, the exterior presentation is great. The interior is original and in great condition for the age of the vehicle. No alterations to the original interior were made when the car was built. The dash, door panels, seats, console, and headliner are in great survivor condition. The carpet is in good condition, but has faded slightly and could be freshened up. All of the factory gauges operate correctly, with the exception of the fuel gauge. It may just need a new sending unit in the cell. The factory sunroof works perfectly. The power windows work, although they are fairly slow going up. The factory a/c and heater controls work as they should. This Hurst rides on big and little Cragar Weld Wheels with skinny street tires in front and huge Mickey Thompson Sportsman 29x18.50x15 rears. The tires are in excellent condition. The great thing about this car is its drivability. Whether just cruising around town, or on the highway at 70 mph, this car drives great. The car starts, runs, drives, and stops great. It is a little cold natured on start-up, but runs excellent once warm. It runs cool, and the temp gauge stays around a consistent 190 degrees, even in the summer heat. This car is being sold as-is, with a clear Texas Title in hand. Inspections of the car are welcome, or come see the car in person at our shop. No trades considered on this car. All sales are final. Maybe I understated the description, but this is really a nice car that can be enjoyed now. You honestly can hop in and drive it anywhere and have everything work. I still plan to let the auction run its course, so if you want a really nice car that has been assembled with quality, this is the buy of the month.
