Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is my georgous "Little Italian Sportscar". It is a very rare model built by the actual famed Italian designer Pininfarina and produced only from 1983-1985. These cars were upgraded versions of the Fiat Spider 2000. The U.S. importer wanted to "raise the bar" on these vehicles after Fiat left the U.S. market at the end of 1982. The car was renamed "Azzura" (after the Italian yacht raced that year) and a host of options became standard equipment. Genuine leather seating, electric windows, an electronically tuned am/fm cassette stereo (high tech at the time) and intermittant wipers were included. Unique to these cars was the freshened dash layout with center face console and remote rearview mirrors moved off the body. This gave the car a much cleaner sideview appearence with no distraction from the original Italian design. This car in particular happily does not have any pinstripes, bodyside mouldings or trunk rack which I feel really takes away from it's beautiful sweeping lines. The back seat was also deleted in favor of a much more useful parcel shelf thus making the car a true 2 seater sportscar. Another upgrade was the addition of 14" Cromodora alloy wheels with unique "no name" center caps. All this plus the absolutely stunning color combination of Rosso Red with beige leather simply sets this beauty apart from the rest. PLEASE SEE THIS LINK: http://s492.photobucket.com/albums/rr282/snakeoilii/ When I saw this car on the showroom floor looking right at home with much more exspensive classic cars I knew I had to have it ! The dealer had completed a very comprehensive inspection prior to my purchase and even gave me an signed odometer statement (not mandatory for cars of this vintage) because they were so confident that the very low mileage was true and correct. I had also run a "vehicle history report" and it came back with very favorable results and testament to the mileage as well. I believe I am the third owner (report will be included with sale). The car has been repainted some time ago by the previous owner and still retains fabulous gloss and a nice smooth feel to the finish. Obvious care and disassembly had been taken by a professional when resprayed it's original color. All gaps line up nicely on this super staight body. Chassis and the original sheetmetal are rustfree with only minor imperfections here and there (please see all the detailed photos). Glass and chrome are in excellent condition as well. The stylish convertable top is new and tight. This Pininfarina is ready to show and drive, it is a true "turn-key" vehicle. All maintainence is up to date including a brand new battery, brakes front and rear and of course the all important timing belt has just been replaced. A complete service has also been done including all filters, oil change, all fluids checked and topped off, spark plugs, ignition wires and a fuel injection service. A new heater control valve was also replaced ( now you can enjoy this car in the winter too). Driving the car is a real pleasure and she always starts right up on the first try. The engine does not smoke or use oil. The 2000cc twin cam will pull right up to redline, coupled with a smooth shifting 5 speed transmission enhance the overall feel. Nice positive gear changes with no synchro or noise issues here. The clutch has a nice take up and feels healthy but no record on when it may have been replaced. Steering and suspension are tight and the car tracks straight and true. Crusing at highway speeds among the modern machinery is not a problem with this Spider. Driving at 70mph instills complete confidence and comfort. The car is totally stock / original and still retains an oem exhaust system which has a nice tone without being obtrusive. The muffler and tailpipe are new. Tires are Bridgestone potenza 185/60 14 and are in excellent condition. Overall, I can see that this car has never been abused or neglected even the trunk and engine compartment areas have been maintained and are super clean. The chassis is clean and rust free but would need some detailing if you plan on entering any judged show events. The interior is original and still very nice, everything works. The leather seats are very comfortable with no rips or tears however there is crazing in the seating surfaces. This really does not distract from the overall beauty and actually adds a patina reminisent of classic sports cars of pedigree. I am not happy about selling this car especially just before Spring, but financial concerns this winter have taken toll on my modest fixed income. The car will come with a clear NJ title (inspection good to 2012), a new reprint of the original factory service manual, Azzura medallion and my service records. I realize this ad was "wordy" but I tried to hit all the bases. I am sure I have still left out some point of interest so please feel free to ask questions before bidding. PLEASE DO NOT BID UNLESS YOU ARE ABLE TO FULLY COMPLETE THE TRANSACTION. Car is sold "as is " condition no warranties expressed nor implied. Buyer is responsible for transport of this vehicle, I will assist where I can. A $500.00 deposit is due within 48 hours after auction end. Balance of payment to be made by certified bank check. Vehicle is not to be released prior to funds clearing my account.
