Vehicle Detail

Here she is ladies and gentlemen, The Mother “Load,” the Big Bopper, the Blue Mule, the Wide Load Road Toad, the Land Yacht for Yuppies before anyone knew what a yuppie was, the Woody Wagon of the Wonder Years, one of the last vestiges of the vintages, the crooner’s cruiser, the S*burban of the 70’s, the “Ain’t-nothin-‘mini’-about-this-wagon of the 80’s, the Nerd Mobile of the 90’s and now the cult classic time machine of the 21st century. This is one beautiful car. I purchased this 1984 Caprice Classic Estate Wagon from the second owner who owned it for 21 years. I have paid the taxes and titled it in my name. I have the registration in hand and the clear title is in process. 2nd owner purchased it with 60K in 1990 and it now has 130K miles. That’s only 70K miles in 21 years! This gem has been well kept as a vehicle. It was not a trailer queen or a garage princess, but again, well kept and nicely appointed. The 305 Chevy V8, 4 BBL engine is smooth and runs great. This has the 4 spd automatic transmission with overdrive. It is well optioned for the year including power locks, tilt wheel, cruise control (which still works) A/C which has already been converted to R134a and blows cold (see pic of retrofit sticker), dash clock still keeping perfect time, power brakes, power steering, power windows, including the rear window which can be opened from the front dash or with the key in the tailgate. The tailgate is (of course) dual opening; swing out and drop down. Both work. This is the wagon with the rear facing third seat. It is blue with the wood trim. Like most vehicles of this era, the “wood” trim is faded. The GM style "teak wood" vinyl is available from woody wagon enthusiast sites and can be replaced with relative ease, but this will be the choice of the new owner. The car was painted approximately 5 years ago so no problem with that area of the car. There is NO RUST!!! I have lots of pics I can send, but I loaded the 24 supersized pics here on the auction. I can send underside pics of the tail end. This relatively young (but increasingly rare) vehicle is KNEE DEEP in Goodyear rubber, like new white wall 225/75/R15 tires. Check out the spoke wheel covers! Windows are clear with no cracks and no tint. Windshield has the integrated radio antenna. Roof rack is solid, but chrome pieces at the corners are in need of re-chroming. Bumpers are good, but rear bumper extension unit (the plastic piece that fills in between the end of the car and the bumper) was so badly dry rotted that I removed it. The front piece is still in place, but also dried out. Carpet is in very good condition throughout. Rubber floor mats. This has been a lifelong non smoker. The headliner is in good condition, a few wrinkles around the sun visors, but not hanging down. The worst part of the headliner is over the rear facing seats and the foam/headliner material will need to be removed and replaced for the perfect look, but functional as is. Front seats have a few seam separations (have detailed pics). Vinyl trim pieces are in good condition. Backs seats are great. Dash is cracked as are 99% of these cars (detailed pics). I get thumbs up wherever I go. This car already has a Draw Tite Hitch and is ready to tow a moderately sized trailer. Car is wired for trailer hook up. The car is listed on a 7 day auction and will sell to the highest bidder at the conclusion of the auction. I know 7 days seems like a long time, but I want to make sure I have time to answer all questions bidders may have. I will begin the bidding at one penny. I believe in the concept of the auction and that the true value of the vehicle will be proven by the eBay community. I ‘m sure I have missed a thing or two, but remember this is a 27 year old car. It isn’t perfect, but I think it is a great daily driver or a weekend pleasure boater. Please don’t hesitate to call or email. My cell phone is 270 872 7507. My name is Murray. I am on Eastern Time. Best wishes in the auction! On Mar-10-11 at 07:04:38 PST, seller added the following information: I have had a few questions re: fuel mileage. EPA ratings vary, but 14 city mpg and 20 mpg Highway would be a reasonable expectation. You might squeeze 22 mpg on the highway if you keep your foot out of the 4 BBL. The gas gauge does not work, so I just keep track by the odometer. The gas tank WILL BE FULL upon delivery and with a 22 some odd gallon tank, that's about a $75 option. I will load pics of the underside before the weekend. Thanks for all your interest and best wishes in the auction. On Mar-11-11 at 16:23:59 PST, seller added the following information: Just got back from the shop. I can't seem to figure out how to add pics of undercarriage to running auction, but I took several pics while the car was up on racks, so I can email them to you if you wish. Oil was changed 300 miles ago, and today I had the A/C evacuated and recharged. Was cool before, but now its blowing like a Nor'Easter! No problems, this car is ready to cruise!
