Vehicle Detail
1979 MGB Convertible. Ask anyone who has ever driven one of these cars it will make you smile. This is the car you look to find when you want to do a light restoration on a car. It has had two owners in CA its whole life. It is SOLID, and I mean ZERO rust anywhere, no blisters, Nothing any where -SOLID. Photos will go much more into detail on this. It is 100 percent original paint with no accidents ever. Body is super straight. It was mostly garaged. In fact I recently pulled it out of storage where it has sat on a CA non-op since 2006. Fresh gas and battery and it fired right up. before this car was parked it had the head rebuilt with all new parts from Moss Motors by a locally known British Mechanic. The car also had a complete service and fresh tune at that time, so I was not surprised when it ran so well. It has mechanical distributor so no points to deal with. It fires right up, warms up quickly with the manual choke, no smoke. Engine has good power, clutch and brakes feel good and temp oil pressure are both very good. One thing to note that on a hard brake the car pulls lightly to the right. In my opinion it could be a daily driver as is. Body is excellent, really. Though like all cars the paint looks better in pictures than it really is. It has numerous places where paint is very thin or completely worn thru. Photos will show it. Trunk is solid, all jacking points and floors are original and solid. The car has brand new Aluminum wheels from Moss Motors (Over $1k) and new tires with only a couple hundred miles. Car has new trunk carpet kit, original jack and lug wrench etc.. Interior is original and complete. driver seat is ratty, carpet is original and dirty. Dash has numerous cracks. Al lights and gauges work. It has aftermarket radio and original radio delete plate is included. All glass is good. The soft top is in good serviceable condition with no tears. Windows in soft top are not brand new bright but not yet dried and discolored either. Has boot luggage rack. A nice original, early style grill is included if you wanted to convert it to a steel bumper car (super easy to do with hand tools and a couple hours). Here is a link to more photos- http://rides.webshots.com/album/579839702pYhcog And a link to the engine running- http://rides.webshots.com/video/3015545400067287234ZAxAQE I have set a "Buy it Now" that I expect will be met easily so offers to end auction early usually do not work with me. (Though I would rather have an offer than no offer). Please ask questions before bidding. And I would prefer you were sober when you bid. I have used dependable auto shippers (they quote online) and honor their quote. They use their own trucks and you can track it. I can deliver to their hub in Rancho Cordova, CA For $50. If shipping oversees (no problem- clear ca title matches all the vins on car), I can send to Long Beach , CA for $325 and Oakland, CA for $225.On Mar-04-11 at 11:51:08 PST, seller added the following information: I have had a few question about California smog from local people. And if you live in CA this is a very good question and I should have covered it in more detail. This car (and every model year after 1976) is subject to CA smog to be registered in CA. It passed smog in years past and still has all its original smog equipment (and extra smog pump and parts). I have no reason to believe it will not pass as it runs good and has the correct equipment, is an original CA car that came with CA smog and has stickers showing it. It only has about 50 miles on it since pulled from storage (where it sat since 2006). I have not tried to smog it as it may very well sell to someone out of state and would have been a wasted effort. Smog is responsibility of new owner, so bid accordingly if you are from CA.
