THE HORN ALSO WORKS AND RETAINS USE OF THE ORIGINAL STEERING WHEEL HORN BUTTON ..ALSO, IN THE ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT, WE HAVE JUST INSTALLED A BRAND NEW 6 VOLT BATTERY AND A FACTORY REBUILT 6 VOLT ORIGINAL STYLE GENERATOR & VOLTAGE REGULATOR.. OUR LITTLE TRUCK ALSO RECEIVED A FRESH TUNE UP, USING GENUINE DELCO PARTS FROM OUR GM PARTS DEPARTMENT. THIS TUNEUP INCLUDED NEW SPARK PLUGS, A NEW SET OF POINTS, A NEW CONDENSOR AND A NEW DISTRIBUTOR CAP & ROTOR. THE BODY OF THE TRUCK HAS NOT BEEN TOTALLY RESTORED AND HAS SUFFERED SOME SLIGHT DAMAGE DURING THE LAST 60 YEARS ! THE WHEELS ARE 16 INCH FACTORY ORIGINALS WITH THE CORRECT HUBCAP CLIPS STILL IN PLACE.. WE HAVE SANDBLASTED EACH THOROUGHLY AND REPAINTED AND PRIMED THEM CORRECTLY..TO THIS WE INSTALLED THE CORRECT REPRODUCTION HUBCAPS..ALSO NEWLY ADDED ARE THE NEW REPRODUCTION, CHROME REAR BUMPER AND THE NEW FRONT HOOD BADGE. THE FRONT FILLER PANEL, THAT FITS BETWEEN THE FRONT BUMPER AND GRILLE, HAD ALSO SUSTAINED DAMAGE AND WAS LIKEWISE REPLACED WITH A NEW METAL REPRODUCTION FROM JIM CARTERS OF INDEPENDENCE, MISSOURI. ORIGINAL 600x16 INCH TIRES THE TIRES ARE LIKE BRAND NEW. THEY ARE THE CORRECT 600 x 16 INCH BLACKWALL TIRES. THESE ARE EXACT DUPLICATES TO THE TIRES WHICH COULD BE PURCHASED ON THE VERY DATE THAT OUR TRUCK WAS PRODUCED BACK IN 1950 ! THE SPARE TIRE IS NOT NEW BUT HAS PLENTY OF TREAD AND IS MOUNTED CORRECTLY ON THE ORIGINAL SPARE TIRE CARRIER UNDER THE BED.. THE OLD BED WOOD HAS BEEN REMOVED AND REPLACED WITH THE CORRECT CLEAR YELLOW PINE.. THIS WOOD WAS PROCURED FROM THE FOLKS AT CLASSIC PARTS IN KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI AND IT IS JUST LIKE THE ORIGINAL.. IT IS GROOVED AND SPACED CORRECTLY AND WE HAVE REPLACED THE BED STRIPS WITH THE ORIGINAL REPRODUCTION PARTS.. ONE OF THE AREAS THAT ALWAYS SHOWS A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF DETERIORATION IS THE FRONT BED PANEL.. THIS IS QUITE TYPICAL ON THESE TRUCKS, AS THIS IS WHERE LEAVES AND OTHER DEBRIS TEND TO COLLECT THROUGH THE MANY YEARS OF SERVICE. WE FOUND THAT OURS DID NEED REPLACEMENT. JIM CARTER SUPPLIED US WITH THE CORRECT REPRODUCTION PANEL.. IT'S BRAND NEW, HEAVY GAUGE METAL, AND IT LOOKS GREAT! THE BRAKES ALSO HAVE HAD EXTENSIVE WORK PERFORMED ON THEM, INCLUDING A NEW MASTER CYLINDER, FOUR NEW WHEEL CYLINDERS, TWO NEW FLEX HOSES AND FOUR NEW BRAKE SHOES. THE REAR EMERGENCY BRAKE CABLES WERE SEIZED IN POSITION AND WOULD NOT MOVE AN INCH..WE FELT EXTREMELY FORTUNATE TO FIND TWO, NEW, OLD STOCK CABLES IN THE KANSAS CITY AREA. THE BRAKES ARE NOW QUITE FUNCTIONAL, INCLUDING THE EMERGENCY BRAKES AND THEY SHOULD PROVIDE YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE NEW OWNER. THIS BEING SAID, WE STILL INSIST THAT A QUALIFIED TECHNICIAN LOOK OVER THIS IMPORTANT SAFETY FEATURE UPON ARRIVAL AT IT'S NEW HOME.. FOUR BRAND NEW SHOCKS WITH ALL THE NECESSARY HARDWARE WAS ALSO INSTALLED. THIS CORRECTED OUR SQUEAKY SUSPENSION PROBLEMS. WE HAVE ALSO PURCHASED AND INSTALLED A BRAND NEW SEAT COVER FROM CLASSIC PARTS OF KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI. THIS IS MADE OUT OF THE CORRECT REPRODUCTION MATERIAL AND IS STITCHED AND SEAMED CORRECTLY. NOW, YEARS LATER THIS IS BECOMING AN INCREASINGLY SERIOUS PROBLEM, WITH TITLES TRANSFERRED THAT SHOW A SERIAL NUMBER THAT DOES NOT MATCH...
