Classic Mercedes Benz 450 SL convertible hardtop. Our family has owned the car for almost the last 30 years. My dad bought it for my mom when it was a couple of years old from Walnut Creek Ferrari in Walnut Creek, CA (my parents were the second owners) My mother hasn't driven for the last several years, so it's been sleeping in my sister's garage in the South Livermore Valley Wine country located in the San Francisco eastbay. It's registered in her name, and she only uses it for an occasional errand. Her and my brother in law decided that they do not drive it enough to warrant keeping it. So here is a description to the best of my ability: It is has an emerald green exterior and beige leather interior. It has never been in a major accident... it has had parking lot dings and nicks that have resulted in a repaint several years ago. The leather seats were professionally reuphosltered and a new german haartz cloth top put on about 8-10 years ago. But the top hasn't been up for several months so I would assume the fabric is bad.(but the frame is very good) The door panels are in decent condition...not all tore up, and if you consider the age, pretty good! Carpet also fair/good. All the glass is there and pretty original except for an aftermarket CD player installed about 6 years ago. It runs decent to rough, and there are some minor leaks and squeaks from sitting and not being driven. It idles rough at times, but is nonetheless a solid car. The odometer stopped at 83553 about 6 years ago. If you are looking for a new car, this is definitely not it, but if you are looking to buy an almost guarenteed classic in the making, and you have realistic expectations, then you will be pleasantly surprised! ( I recently sold my 1956 Porsche cab for a lot of money and the old timers in the club laughed about how you could once pick up a speedster for twenty-five bucks!! Well, this is a Mercedes Benz. It's a V-8 that runs. It's a two seater. It has lived it's life in California (no snow, road salt, etc.), and it's a CONVERTIBLE with TWO TOPS! Check the price and you'll see that you can't go wrong. Because it's at my sister's, please allow a a few hours notice if you would like to see it in person. Again, I could have talked it up, but if you check my feedback you'll see that I am a very upfront person who has been on ebay for over 12 years with PERFECT FEEDBACK. I already have a convertible Mercedes, and as you've read I didn't even have room to keep my vintage Porsche....so I'm bummed.
