Vehicle Detail

*I am relisting this because the reserve was not met and the top bidders changed their mind. For the people who were watching & bidding before I wanted to let you know that I now have the gas cap key and I have figured out how to open the rear hatch. It opens fine! This Datsun is now being offered with a lower reserve than before! Up for sale is a 1972 Datsun 510 Wagon! ("Goon") This collectible automobile has 48,670 original miles on the original engine! Automatic transmission/4 doors + rear hatch that opens All original Starts fine every time/engine sounds strong and steady when idling. Car runs good, however only to about 35 mph because the carburetor needs to be rebuilt. The engine isn't getting enough fuel so it won't go past 40 mph (this is because the carburetor needs to be rebuilt) We had the car checked out by a mechanic and according to him, the engine and everything is good. The only thing he said that was a problem was the carburetor and it might possibly need some transmission work as it was slipping a little bit (or a transmission rebuild if needed however he didn't really think it was the transmission. He said it seemed fine). He couldn't check out the transmission fully because he couldn't drive the car past 40mph because of the carburetor. However, he did get it up to about 35 mph so the transmission was shifting gears. The mechanic also replaced the brake hose. The brakes are good now. We have the paperwork that shows that this was done and also mentions the recommendation to rebuild the carburetor and check the transmission further. Tires are good. Windows roll up and down. Headlights are fine. Doors and door locks all work fine. There is a spare tire and the rim is underneath the car under the hatch(but I don't know how to get it detached, it needs the jack handle to release it but I don't if the jack or handle is back in the hatch area-you could order it from ebay or try and find it somewhere) I also noticed that after idling for a while, there was some liquid spots on the ground that had slightly leaked/or sprayed out of the tail pipe (just a lot of little spots. Not a big puddle or anything like that), however the mechanic didn't mention anything about it so I don't know if it's a problem or not. This car is perfect for a serious collector for restoration. It mostly needs cosmetic work done. The car is complete and all original. I've listed the cosmetic things that need to be done: -Needs a new rear view mirror -Needs 2 small dents knocked out in the front left fender -Needs a new paint job as it is the original paint job -Needs a new speaker system and new radio/cd player (it has the original system in place but it doesn't work) -Needs new upholstery on the inside ceiling as it has a tear across the middle(shown in photo) -Dashboard has large cracks from the sun -The interior overhead light and fixture is missing (the one that goes on when you open the doors) -Interior overhead hatch light and fixture is missing also -Front left exterior turn signal bulb needs to be replaced -Exterior rubber lining around the windows needs to be replaced as it is all dried out from the sun -Arm rest on the driver's door is getting loose -Needs a good thorough cleaning and has an old smell in it. -Has some oxidation and rust -Metal strip along the doors is loose (shown in photo) -Windshield wipers need to be replaced. Also, one of the metal pieces that holds the wiper is dented and needs to be fixed or replaced (shown in photo) -The horn doesn't work and it looks bent. Also comes with original owner's manual, original window slip that was in the window at the dealership when first sold, & the original sales slip from 1972! Also comes with repair manuals! Most of the things that need to be done are cosmetic and only affect the way it looks This car has a lot of potential for the serious collector of Datsun automobiles!
