Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a single owner 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab Sport package 4x4 pickup truck. I am the original owner and purchased the truck new. I will try to tell you as much as I can about the truck as I am an honest seller. First off, I am selling because I no longer need something this big. I have put a lot of money into this truck as I used it for various projects. Anyway, please view the original window sticker PIC to get a sense of all of the options that are on this truck. In addition to those items, the transmission was totally rebuilt with a shift kit in it (see PIC of receipt I provided). The rear end was also fully rebuilt appx. 2 years ago. The engine that's in the truck now only has appx 40K miles on it as I cahnged motors at about 129K miles ( I have the receipt from Power Pro Engines), it is still a 5.9L. It has HID headlights, 2 PIAA 100W offroad lights, headers, and Magnaflow dual exhaust for that awesome rumble! A SKYJACKER lift kit and a heavy duty track bar. You also have a top of the line sound system consisting of a detachable face Alpine HD Ready stereo, which includes an iPod or iPhone interface, a 400 Watt Rockford Fosgate 4ch Amp, 2 Polk Audio 6x9's in the doors, and a custom dual woofer by MTX under the rear seat. The truck has the AIRAID system with the K&N reusable air filter. The 2 tires on the back are Brand New ($500), see the penny PIC. The 2 fronts have more than half of their life left on them. Front Hubs with Bearings replaced in December 2010, fuel pump replaced in October 2010. Now, I will tell you everything that is a poterntial issue with this truck and it will depend on what you are able to live with; First of, the rear Quad Cab doors no longer open. I believe the bottom hinges got so rusty that they are unable to open. This is repairable of course but will take time and potentially some new hinges. Second, the truck has underdrive pulley's installed for extra horsepower, so at idle if you have a lot of accessories on, especially the offroad lights, you will start to pull current from the battery as the alternator is not able to put out the required power you are drawing.Once the battery starts to lose charge, the idle will start to get broken up as the computer will try to compensate for this. The fix is to just raise the idle by depressing the accelerator every so often, or change the alternator pulley to the stock one. Third, one of the selonoids in the transmission needs to be replaced. Here is the occasional symptom. Once you go over 60 MPH, one of the intermittantly faulty selonoids will trigger the Engine Check light. What happens is that the transmission goes into what's called SAFE mode (2nd Gear) when you stop. It will not go back into first gear unless you cycle the ignition. As a note, the transmission DOES NOT go into second gear on the highway or anything, everything works as normal on the highway. The issue is when you come to a complete stop, you would be starting in second gear vs. first, otherwise every other shift is fine. Cycling the ignition clears this code and you're back to normal! The remedy is to either live with this and cycle the ignition like I have whenever this happens, or spend the $600 or so dollars to have the faulty selonoid chaged. I didn't want to put more money in it once I decided to sell. The transmission was rebuilt with heavier duty parts including a shift kit. The harder you ride this truck the sweeter the shifts! It was built by TSI transmissions http://www.tsiracing.com/. I provided a PIC of the receipt. You have some obvious rust around the bottom as well as the bumpers. Interior is in excellent shape as you can see. Seats are clean and not torn anywhere, and carpet is in good shape. You could use a new floor mats. Be sure the check out the above average Vehicle History Report!! Buyer is responsible for pick-up or freight. This is a great worktruck or fun truck if yoiu like off-roading! Good luck to all that bid.
