Vehicle Detail
1966 Imperial Crown Convertible one of 514 You are viewing an exceptional example of a 1966 Imperial Crown Convertible; one of 514 built. This one has only 56K original miles! Additionally, this car was part of the Tangier Shriner Imperial fleet of 1966, as such, it sports the unique and striking two tone gold and black interior. The high gloss leather interior is in exceptional condition. This car has never been rusted, dented, abused, or left in the elements. I can't imagine that there exists more than half a dozen 66 Imperials in the world of the same caliber as this car. If you have ever wanted an Imperial convertible, then this is the one you want! 1966 was the best year: the first 440, improved torque flight, final year for body on frame construction, gold pinstriped glass headlight covers, improved body harmonics through revised mount locations, double cardon u-joints, 5,395 pounds of pure class...America's Rolls Royce. The 67' and 68' Imperial convertibles shared their bodies with lesser New Yorkers, whereas 1966 and prior Imperials were unique in all of MoPar. I have many pictures of the underside of the car that I can send to interested parties. This is a totally original unmolested example, with the exception of one high quality repaint. The pictures in this ad really speak for themselves. I have enjoyed this car, and I am sure this fine automobile will be a source of pride for it's new owner. The car is totally ready to hit the road, and can be driven anywhere. Read my feedback, and bid with confidence. I am selling this car to focus on my Packards. What follows is a list of work that has been done on the car in the last few years. (I am a fanatic when it comes to up keep, maintenance, and reliability of my antique cars) -Totally rebuilt brake system, every single component -Totally rebuilt convertible top system, every single component -Totally rebuilt fuel and cooling system, every single component -Totally rebuilt HVAC system, cold ac-hot heat, every single component -Totally rebuilt propeller (drive) shaft, every single component -Straightened and re-chromed bumpers, every single component -For the sake of reliability, full tune up, all hoses, belts, filters, fluids, etc... -Top of the line radials with 500 miles on them -Mostly rebuilt front end, ball joints, etc... -Replaced water pump, fuel pump, rebuilt power steering pump -Every single light bulb functions -All windows except the passenger side vent window work well, even the auto trunk opener works! -3 month old top of the line battery, also battery cables, alternator, regulator, and starter replaced at the same time -The original boot covers are in mint condition, they are not installed in the photos, they are kept in the trunk as you can see in the photos -The car does not leak any fluids, I replaced gaskets as necessary As for flaws: There are a couple of minor chips in the paint on the hood, very hard to photograph, and the cruise control is not hooked up. I never attempted to have the cruise looked at, or otherwise serviced. You could repaint the engine, and put new decals on it to really make this a show car. Exhaust may be original and still sounds quite, one of the tail pipes has a hole in it. If you are interested in this fine example of a 1966 Imperial Crown Convertible, then bid what you think is fair, appropriate, and most importantly, what you can afford. I have almost 30K in this car, however the reserve is far, far below that number. I may entertain offers at auction close; if the reserve is not met. The reserve is less than the buy it now. Good luck! Remember, spring is around the corner! This car is truly magnificent. On Feb-13-11 at 09:28:18 PST, seller added the following information: Attention: Due to numerous requests for more and better pictures, I went out this morning and took new pictures in the brilliant sunshine. Please send me an e-mail address to send these new, properly lit, high resolution photos to. Thx, and good luck! On Feb-13-11 at 10:18:38 PST, seller added the following information: Several people have inquired if the car looks as good in person as it does in the pictures. The car looks better in person! Out in brilliant sunshine, the metallic gold paint is stunning. The paint job cost 4k, and it was done over a straight/rust/dent free body. Again, I have the chassis pictures to demonstrate how nice the car is. Remember, not only is this car a super rare convertible, it is one of perhaps two dozen of the Shriner editions, add to that the condition this car is in, and you can bet you won't see yourself on the road, or a car show. I have spent thousands ensuring that I can just hop in this car and go on a road trip, in complete comfort, and with piece of mind. These cars are hideously expensive to restore properly, let alone finding parts for. Buy an original one that is 100% right! All for the price of a new loaded Ford Taurus! Don't loose out...
