Vintage 1965 Mercedes Benz 220SEb Fuel Injected I am letting go of a beloved, rare and very beautiful car. This car is not a show car, but a driver in great condition that gets attention everywhere it goes. It is a thrill to take friends for a drive on a summer evening in this classy, luxurious automobile. This W111 chasissed model, the brainchild of Mercedes legends Paul Bracq, Josef Muller and Rudi Ulenhaut was debuted the year before as a “car of the future”. The last year of this model was 1965, so there are not many of them around from any vintage. It is a true driver’s car – often compared to the Rolls Royce Corniche, although this model handled better - which makes them increasingly hard to find as they are snatched up by collectors. It was the first fuel injected car sold in America and the first to be crash tested and designed with a safety “crumple zone” and a rigid safety cell, designed by Italian car designer Bela Barenyi and patented by Daimler-Benz in 1951. The lower case “b” designated the fuel injected, 2.2L straight six coupe, but did not appear on any badging. Due to fuel injection the car starts easily, pulls strongly through the gears, drives beautifully and cruises effortlessly at 80mph. 4 speed manual transmission and sunroof are both rare on this model. This car lives up the great reputation of this series. The car has been repainted 10 year ago with the original Mercedes Arabian gray. It has saddle color leather interior. The teak interior wood is complete. The transmission has been rebuilt as well the engine. This car is fuel-injected has disk brakes and 2 piece rear axcel, it is made to handle corners. It does have a few rust spots. This is a drop dead gorgeous, excellent operating attention getting car in driver condition.
