Vehicle Detail
I purchased the Phaeton in 1994, I believe it was fully restored in 1975. When I purchased it, it was just about time for the mechanicals to be freshened up. I went through the motor with a valve job, new cam, timing gears, rings, rods, surfaced the head and did the typical rebuild of the distributor and water pump etc. I also went through the brake system completely as well as the complete front suspension and steering linkage. The car, based on the motor serial number is a March of 1928 and has many AR features. Most all the front end components and axle have the Ford script on them. It has the multiple disk clutch and the early brake system. It has the original round tube radiator which is so nice and clean looking and I have the powerhouse generator although I don't remember if it's the 3 or 5 brush unit. I have found additional AR and Canadian parts for it such as the early water pump housing with the small hole in the bottom and the special cast rear motor mounts (compared to the stamped steel ones like on the non-AR units). The paint and interior are the correct Canadian AR colors, screw heads on the hinges and body panels are of the Canadian square socket head type. The front bumpers are of the open end type, but not the rear ones. I have a couple of the early bumper clamps, but they are not on the car. I have the early banana pop-out switch but it's not on the car. The car is aesthetically pretty much as I purchased it, consider it a good driver but the hood needs to be repainted. It also needs the steering box rebuilt, too much play in it for most people now. Runs great, great for use in weddings. Oh yes, I purchased a right hand (right hand drive cars) rear tail light bracket from a guy in Argentina to match the original forged left hand bracket and added it with another drum tail light to have a perfect match and twice the safety factor to the back of the car. I purchased new nickle AR hub caps for it to look nice, and have a few of the original Canadian hub caps with that little star stamped in them. It has the original motor meter on it. It is a dependable good running Model A. We have mutiple cars in the family and don't have the room for them all. This can has been taken on my 300+ mile trips during WI summers without any problems. This car is being sold as is. Inspections of car can be also arranged by contacting the seller. On Feb-03-11 at 03:21:31 PST, seller added the following information: Side Curtains: The car has side curtains that are stored under the rear floor board. In 15 years we've never had them on the car. The roof has a nice "overhang" that allows most rain to run off without getting inside. It has never been driven in winter. I've had it in rain during the warm summer a number of times and it was quite dry!
