Vehicle Detail

Up for bid is a 1968 Mustang GT, 390-4V, Factory 4 Speed project car with original 9" posi. rearend. According to the Marti Report that was just obtained on this vehicle, it is one of only 4,766 with the GT equipment group out of a total 1968 Mustang production of 317,404 which equates to only 1.5%. The Marti Report also indicates that this vehicle is one of only 1,194 with these engine and transmission codes; less than 1/2 of 1% of the Mustangs produced in in 1968. This car was built on December 20, 1967 in Metuchen, NJ (11 days behind schedule) and was sold in Philadelphia on March 22, 1968. This vehicle needs a complete restoration to return it to its former glory. This is a project car. The 390-4V engine starts and runs well without any smoking or unusual engine noises. As can be seen in the pictures it has the original factory chrome valve covers. The 4 speed shifts easily between all gears. The shifter is a Hurst replacement model rather than the original equipment Ford shifter. The front fenders have been replaced and while the rear quarter panels have repairable rust spots, new replacement quarter panels are included as well. The door shells have also been replaced and the original door tag has been installed on the driver's side door as from the factory. The car has a new deck lid as well. Structurally the car is solid including the frame and floors. The front floor pans have been professionally replaced and are as good as new or better. The remaining floors are original and solid. As can be seen in the pictures, the car has the original GT style wheels, trim rings and center caps. The interior will need a complete kit including a dash pad. The front and rear seats are there and are structurally sound. Many parts have been assembled for use in the restoration and all are included as part of the auction. Among these parts are a rebuilt and detailed original AM radio with original knobs and a re-coned dash speaker. Also included in the auction is a set of tail lights with bright chrome trim pieces, a new GT grill with fog lamp openings, new front and rear bumpers and associated hardware, new deck lid molding, rear window, new hood molding, new battery tray, and a number of other items. As the Marti Report attests, this car is the real deal, an original "S" code big block Mustang. The VIN is stamped into the left front fender, the door tag is present, and the Buck Tag is attached to the right front fender; all of these bear the same VIN. Shipping of the car and all included items will be the responsibility of the buyer although I will assist in any way that I can to facilitate pick up. This is a great opportunity to restore a true 60's muscle car at a reasonable cost. I will be happy to answer any questions that you may have. Door Codes: 65B W 6A 09M 1675. Door code translates to: 65 = Body Type Mustang 2 Door Hardtop; W = Exterior Paint Color Meadowlark Yellow; 6A = Black Decor Bucket Seats; 09M = Scheduled For Build december 9, 1967; 16 = Philadelphia Ordering District; 7 = Rear Axle Ratio 3.25:1; 5 = Four Speed Manual Transmission. All sales are final.
