The 1969 Porsche 912 coupe: Better handling and ride quality, better engine performance, better shifting and it's the very last of the early 912 cars. This was purchased from the original owner in good running condition and was restored to near original condition, with a few improvements to the interior. Interior I've always felt that the interiors of the SWB cars are much more classic and elegant and that the 69 interior was cluttered and bulky. So in the tradition of the SWB cars we deleted the climate control knobs and the radio from the dash and welded fresh clean sheet metal instead. We also backdated the heating system to the more simple and reliable style found in the short wheel base cars. The vents have been manually opened so that when you need heat, you just have to pull up the lever on the floor by the emergency brake which opens up the heater boxes. Hot air will blow in from the two defroster vents as well as the two floor vents. The seat recliner brackets have been stripped, coppered and triple chrome plated. The rails and all other hardware have been cadmium plated and the rail brackets and transmission tunnel cover have been powdercoated gloss black. Exterior We kept everything on the exterior to near exact factory specifications. ALL exterior chrome has been stripped, copper plated and then triple chrome plated, including the decklid grille. ALL exterior aluminum trim has been stripped and polished. ALL new body/window seals/rubber, marker and tail light lenses, horn grilles, decco, script, etc. All of the lights are correct for the year, and we upgraded the headlights to H4 and added halogen driving lights for improved visibility. We deleted the "912" script from the rear decklid to keep the car as clean as possible. Note the original rear glass with defrost, only offered in that year. The car also features the square door handles, large durant mirror, rear reflectors, bumperette buffers, powdercoated black windshield wiper arms and the original paint code (6808) done with all PPG brand materials all correct for the year. Engine/Suspension The original matching motor (#4093579) underwent a rebuild featuring new pistons, barrels and rings. Both heads rebuilt, valves replaced and adjusted, both original Solex carbs rebuilt. All sheet metal powdercoated, all hardware cadmium plated. All new seals, rubber, new clutch kit, pedal cluster rebuilt. Performance straight pipe exhaust ceramic plated. Heater boxes ceramic plated as well for smooth and slick operation. All new shocks and struts, suspension removed from chassis, dismantled, sandblasted and powdercoated and then rebuilt. Ride height lowered to European specifications. Vehicle comes with the original black and yellow plates issued with it in California in 1969 to it's original owner, a University of Southern California professor. The plates are still registered to the car and are listed on the clean California title. This car has never left the state of California, guaranteed.
