Up for auction is a 1978 GMC Sierra 4x4 step-side pickup truck. Previous owner replaced the grille with a Chevrolet grille. This truck runs and drives, but is not currently inspected, and probably will take some work to put back on the road. It hasn't been on the road for at least two years. The truck has a 4 speed transmission with a creeper gear. The truck drives, shifts, stops and generally seems to work okay. The truck will need some rust repair at the cab corners, rocker panels, and possibly some of the floor. At the bed, the tailgate and front bulkhead may need replacement. There is various rust spots in the bed area, but for the most part I think it can be repaired. There is a sheet of diamond plate steel in the bed floor. There is a double tube roll bar in the bed, but is not currently bolted down, roll bar looks to be in excellent shape. Rear fenders have some small dents and dings and the truck overall has some scrapes and dings. The paint appears to be fading, or the clear coat may be coming off in some areas. The title shows that it has 150,000 miles, but the odometer shows 105,579 miles. As far as I know, the engine was replaced about 10 years ago and has about 30,000 miles on it. The engine was a GM crate engine, and is currently equipped with an aluminum 4 barrel intake and carb. The engine runs good, is quiet, does not smoke, has 50 lbs. of oil pressure. The carb. from what I can, see does not have a choke. To start the truck, I have to pour gas down the carb. several times, before it will stay running. Once it is running and warmed up a few minutes, it runs nice and seems to have good power too. The 4 wheel drive works, but I noticed that if it is in 4 low, it sometimes pops out. Truck has aftermarket bench seat that needs cleaning and has a small rip at the driver's side. The seat has a fold down center console with wood cupholders on the top, that needs refinishing with stain/varnish. The truck has 32 x 11.5 R 15LT 113Q M+S Load Range C tires with about 50% tread. Truck has dual exhaust coming out back, and a fiberglass sun visor over windshield. The truck has various flaws and imperfections from normal wear and tear for a vehicle of this age. This could make a nice restoration with some work. Please contact me to come see the vehicle BEFORE BIDDING so that you will be able to judge for yourself the condition of the vehicle. The condition of rust is very subjective and you will need to see for yourself. Truck is for sale AS-IS, WHERE-IS, and will need to be picked up from my location within 3 weeks from end of auction. A non-refundable deposit of $250 is due within 48 hours from end of auction. Title will have to be transferred before vehicle leaves my property.
