Vehicle Detail
1963 VW Bug. Oozing nostalgia, this is a strong classic and a genuine German head turner. This is a west coast car. I purchased it in 1995 in Portland Oregon and moved it to the Bay Area in 1997 where it was professionally restored over the course of a full year in 1999 by John’s VW in San Mateo California. The stock 1200 was seamlessly replaced with a pro-built 1600 dual port with single carb for smooth power and reliability, with doghouse fan shroud for extra cooling and a cam with slightly more muscle. You could literally eat off this engine. Professional 12v conversion. Everything works as it should. Less than 2,000 miles on car since restoration. **RECENTLY APPRAISED AT OVER 15,000. BLUEBOOKS FOR $11,500** Fully re-finished interior, new carpet, seats re-furbished and re-covered. Headliner was even painstakingly replaced (NOT easy on a Ragtop but worth the effort and investment.) Too many details to list here - the pictures speak for themselves, BUT do not really do the car justice. Super fun to drive and purrs like a Berlin kitten. Slight imperfections are depicted here in the spirit of full disclosure - but all would be easily fixed for little money if absolute perfection is your goal. Similar models in lesser condition are valued at $11,500. This little baby can be shown and pampered or relied on as a daily driver. It’s hard to let it go but I just don’t drive it anymore and am looking for someone to enjoy it as much as I used to and drive it into the future with love. It’s currently garaged with my parents who care for it wonderfully and occasionally take it out in the dry air of Tucson, AZ. All inquiries happily answered. Email me if you have any questions or comments.
