1966 VW Single Cab Transporter Split Window Vintage The Good: Everything converted to 12V but windshield wipers. Dual treasure chests. Strong and flexible 1600 single port with new rebuilt transaxle, mount, boots, seals, t/o bearing, and shift rod bushing. Drives and shifts nice. New wheel and master cylinders, drag link and steering box. New rear bumper. Correct VW white. No rust, and very clean underneath. The bad: Previous owner cut out a small section of the bed above the engine and then re-attached section with fiberglass. It's not too obvious and it holds, but... Previous owner rust-proofed with some thick black stuff -- it probably works, but I have never driven the transporter in the rain during the three years I have owned it. This is an unusual single cab because of the very good metal, paint, driveline, and good steering. Clear Title. Sunny Arizona. Ask Questions! Have more photos.On Jan-28-11 at 11:24:14 PST, seller added the following information: This bus does not have the heater boxes, which are bolted over a portion of the exhaust headers. The rest of the heating system is there. These boxes are sold on thesamba.com. The motor was rebuilt by a previous owner whom I know. Based on what he told me and what I knew of the guy I bought it from, my guess is that the motor has less than 2,000 miles on it.
