1986 FORD MUSTANG SVO RARE 46 MILE CAR THE MUSTANG THAT DOESN'T EXIST!!! This car was featured in the September 2006 issue of Mustang Monthly as "The SVO That Doesn't Exist!!" - See picture of article. The story goes that it was donated to a school in Benica, California by Ford Motor Company in 1986. It was stored inside the school for the first 5 years of its life. The next 10 years were spent outside in the school bus yard where it received small dents and the paint faded. In 2002 the car ended up in the hands of a Mustang collector in Michigan and sat in storage until the summer of 2005 when it was purchased by someone in Sault Ste. Marie Canada. He contacted the Third Generation Mustang Registery and was informed that the VIN # did not exist! All the VIN #'s before and after it were accounted for but this one was missing. (Typically when a car company donates a vehicle to a school they do not place the VIN # on their registery list and it is supposed to be destroyed when they are finished with it - apparantly this one slipped through the cracks). I bought the car from the person in Canada in July 2006, he did have a title on the car (seems that when the collector in Michigan bought the car, he was able to obtain a clear Michigan title on the car), The car now once again has a clear and valid Michigan Title. In any case, this car changes the total production figures for total number of SVO's produced!!! Now about the car: The car comes with NOS (new old stock from Ford) Headlights, Center Lamps, Cornering Lamps, Horn Pad, Steering Wheel, Shifter Knob and Hood Insulation. This items are worth around $4,000.00 and are brand new in the box with the exception of the steering wheel it is installed but still wrapped in plastic. These original parts on the car were damaged from excessive sun exposure. The car does start and run like new! Please e-mail if you have any questions.
