Vehicle Detail
This is a car that belongs to one of my customers and is from the estate of a very wealthy Georgian who at one time owned an Austin dealership in Georgia. Due to a change in the current owner's circumstances the car is being offered here for sale in the hopes that someone will see fit to restore her to her former glory. I could bore you with details about what makes the 100 a milestone car in the world of motoring but must assume that since you are reading this you already know all that. If not, you can follow this link to find out more about one of the most exciting cars in the history of the automobile: http://www.austin-healey-club.com/Pages/brief-history-AH100.html The former owner of 154665 purchased her from the presumed original owner in the summer of 1964. The car had already been involved in a shunt that folded the right headlamp over onto the aluminum shroud. The right front suspension appears to be unaffected. She was towed to the former owner's courtyard, placed on blocks and covered with two heavy duty oiled military type tarpaulins. She sat parked between the owners home and his carriage house from that point on. He would not sell her for any price. As it often happens in the South, summer blended into fall then winter, then spring, almost un-noticed, again and again and again. The owner stayed busy racing a couple other cars he owned. Nobody touched the car for the next 45 years. Then, one day, he was gone. Which brings us to present day. The car's color had been changed to Black before the former owner came into possession of it. They had also installed a red top and seats (which have long since decayed). It is easy to see the Spruce Green original color under the Black paint along with plenty of evidence that the original interior was Green as well. Given this information, we believe it must have also originally had a Green top. It can be assumed that the car saw some early racing action as the remains of a driver's roll hoop are still welded to the floor behind the driver's seat. We do not know any of the car's history prior to 1964 other than a sticker on the windshield that says Philmont Scout Ranch Cimarron, New Mexico. 12 and P2 had been written on the sticker prior to it's installation (see picture). Are there any former Boy Scouts out there who spent time at Philmont prior to 1964? It would be interesting to know more about the first 10 years of this car's life to fill in the gap. The odometer shows 51,353 miles. The engine number (see pictures) is 1B207306. Surprisingly, the engine can be turned over by hand and feels as though it has compression. We only turned it a little as we had not taken the time to remove the plugs and properly lubricate the cylinders. As you can see in the pictures, the only thing missing in the engine bay is the generator. The original overdrive side shift gearbox is in place along with the original differential. The body is obviously very rough. Please look at the pictures carefully. You will see that the frame, though in need of total restoration, is actually unaffected by the body damage. We realize that some people may consider this a parts car and if that is what must be, so be it. However, it would be really nice if someone would rescue her and make her whole again. The rear wheels are original BN1 while the front are not. New bodies are available and the Austin Healey 100 enjoys very strong club support and a plethora of companies that make getting parts fairly easy. If you ever wanted a Healey 100, this car represents an inexpensive start. Please feel free to email with any questions, specific picture requests or to make an appointment to see the car. I will answer any questions as quickly and effectively as possible. The auction has no reserve and will not be sold outside of Ebay (so don't ask). The starting price represents only a portion of the current owner's original investment as he is reluctantly having to sell. Timely delivery to either Port Charleston, South Carolina or Port Savannah, Georgia is available via trailer for an additional $500. We will be glad to assist overseas buyers with all arrangements through their agents, providing neccesary documentation and details. There is no title as this car is from an era before Georgia even had titles. A bill of sale will be provided with purchase along with any other requested available paperwork. On Jan-14-11 at 11:07:14 PST, seller added the following information: I called the Port Authority Chief in Charleston, South Carolina and got confirmation that a vehicle of this vintage does not require a title to be shipped out of the United States. A good shipper is Phoenix Cargo. My man there is Terry Pittaway. He is based out of the UK and has done an excellent job for me in the past. Terry's email address is terry.pittaway@phoenix-cargo.com You will find him most communicative and since he and I have worked together before, you can be assured of a smooth shipping experience. The car rolls but does not run, so you will want to price shipping her in a container rather than roll on/roll off (RORO) service.
