Vehicle Detail
1964 Volvo PV544 It looks like a shrunken 40’s era Ford and gathers attention everywhere it goes. The car runs well and is totally drivable. This has been my hobby car for the last five years and now it could be yours. I no longer have the time to lavish the car with the love & attention it deserves. Ideally the new owner should be a person who has some mechanical aptitude & enjoys working on cars. My focus has been on making the car a driver, not a show car & not an original restoration. A person could easily buy, drive & enjoy this car now & gradually improve on it as time allows. I would be very difficult to find a less expensive, & more complete hobby car package than this one. The following work has been done to the car within the last 1000 miles: · Suspension o Total front end rebuild including king pins, shocks &bushings o Rear shocks · Master cylinder re-built · All new motor mounts · B-20 motor w/ fresh valve job & new exhaust · Electrical o All new wiring, fuse box, relays, gauges, etc. o New 12 volt Alternator · Fuel tank rust eliminated & coated, new fuel sender · Interior o BMW E30 bucket seats o Custom upholstery- excellent handiwork by my wife o New carpet, sound insulation- Home Depot- no welting. o Modern 3 point seat belts · More that I can’t think of J I’ve owned & been working on the car for five years. Bonus Parts List: · Original B18 long block- runs fine. · All parts to convert to factory disc brakes · All parts to convert to factory electronic ignition · 2 extra wheels · Myriad bonus parts: distributors, generators, manifolds, flywheel, original electrics, etc. If I were keeping the car the immediate projects would be: · Solve parasitic electrical loss (battery goes dead if left sitting for a month) · Fuel gauge- new sender & wiring but gauge always reads full (see above?) · Wiper switch needs attention · Headlight switch & instrument lights don’t jive · Horn sounds like an amorous hedgehog · Oil pressure gauge needs to be plumbed · Replace battery cables Less pressing potential projects: · Speedometer has never worked (cable or drive gears in tranny?). Odometer shows 80k plus but I have no idea how many actual miles. · No dash board pad · Heater currently out of car & needs to be entirely redone · Door locks (no keys) · Choke not connected · Minor leak between exhaust manifold & exhaust pipe · Minor oil leak toward rear of motor—Pan? Or Valve cover? Or Main seal? Clutch works fine. · Door mounted mirrors need love. · Replace tires & do alignment · Original Motorola radio not connected & no speaker(s) If you were going to repaint the car: · Rear apron (the inside rear-most part of the trunk) is rusted through & needs to be replaced · Body has two small (1/2”) rust bubbles (see photos) · Current paint job is an older repaint with a nice patina. Interior is the original color. · If repainting, I’d replace all the door rubbers, window seals, bumpers, trim, headliner, etc. Call me & ask questions. Come see & drive the car. I need to sell the car & want it to go to a home where it will be appreciated & enjoyed. Note that car is for sale locally & seller reserves the right to cancel the auction at any time. Winning bidder must complete transaction within 7 days of end of auction. Winner shall arrange shipping or drive it home! (but you'll need a truck for all the bonus parts).
