Vehicle Detail
1963 Ford Thunderbird (California Car) Running 1963 Ford Thunderbird Landau Coupe. 390 engine with 4 barrel carb. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvNGPMtmCgY&feature=player_embedded It is a true 3 owner California car with no rust anywhere with the exception of the rear cowl area behind the rear window which is typical to '61, '62 and '63 T-Birds. That has been repaired with filler, which has cracked. It was owned by the personal assistant to a major movie star and was her daily driver until she parked it at her Los Angeles home near silver lake california 12 years ago. Just prior to that she did a complete engine rebuild. I closely inspected the engine and tested compression and judging by how well it runs I believe her. There are no oil leaks. The first thing I did was make the car "civilized"; I put on a set of decent service tires because the old ones were sitting on the rims and broke the beads, new battery, new wires, cap, rotor and points. When she rebuilt the motor she put on a new Holley but after the years of sitting the diaphragms went so I rebuilt it. The car fires right up, pulls strong and runs great. The brakes aren't that strong, but work. the shocks are perfectly good. It does pull to one side and sits nicely on the road. AC components are present but not working. The 4 electric windows are not functional. The drivers side electric seat works well. It has one small dent on the drivers side fender. One on the rear trunk lid and one one that is hardly noticeable below the passenger door. This was the only vehicle I owned when I lived in CA and it was driven daily. Very Reliable! I did the good guys show in LA with it and also the primer nationals show in Ventura Ca. It was photographed and published in Ol Skool Rods magazine issue#27 may 2008 page 42. I installed a dry cell battery and a battery cut-off switch, so that when it sits, there is no chance of the battery draining. Although, It has been sitting for some time now and will likely need the battery recharged and the radiator flushed to be ready to drive. All off the side chrome and "thunderbird emblems" have been shaved. This car has good bones and is any easy restoration. It currently has a Ratrod paint job on it but it was originally cherry red if you plan on restoring it back to stock. I have done the best I can to describe it and took a bunch of pictures This Car has a clear TX title, Car is currently unregistered since january. Just flush the radiator, charge the battery, and bleed the brakes and this beauty is back on the road! Reserve is $3001.00 Happy Bidding!
