Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 Volcano Red 1998 Triumph Tiger 885, AKA The Steamer James Bond's Adventure Tourer. In the Triumph and Adventure rider community these bikes were nicknamed Steamers due to their strong, smooth motor and incredible reliability… Like a steam engine. This one has been gone over from bottom to top and it’s ready for anything, touring, urban assault commuting, dual sporting or all three. Pick it up from me, ride it across the country and see for yourself this thing is ready. For added pleasure the bike has been upgraded with the rare factory Triumph triple Givi bag system, a Corbin dual gun fighter seat and a Triumph skid plate. This bike is clean!! I had it detailed twice, once with all the bodywork off after it was serviced, then again once it was all back together. The paint is bright, the engine paint looks like it did when it rolled of the assembly line, and the nuts and bolts also look like new. This bike hasn’t ever been stored out side. I picked up this bike earlier this year after it had been sitting in a garage for over 5 years, that is why the mileage is so low (less than 15,000 miles). I brought it home and I’ve spent over 100 hours making sure it’s as good as new. In the last few months and in the last 50 miles I’ve done the following. ALL new fluids, I mean all. Fresh oil and filter Fresh coolant Fresh brake and clutch fluid Fresh fork oil. I rebuilt the entire front end, Lubed the head bearings, replaced the fork seals, the fork oil, the brake pads and the brake fluid. I put on a low mileage set of Bridgestone Battle Wings with fresh tubes and rim strips and checked the wheels, they were perfectly straight. I lubed all the Zerk fittings, checked the suspension and the linkages, everything is great, the shock still feels very good. I rebuilt the entire fuel system, I rebuilt the carbs, replaced all the seals and all the fuels lines, I rebuilt the petcock and I added an in-line fuel filter. The valves were adjusted just before the bike was parked by the previous owner, they sound perfect so I didn’t dig into them. The battery is a sealed top of the line Yuasa battery, it’s a few weeks old. I also installed new mirrors and new factory front signals. Also included are 2 ignition keys, 3 Givi Luggage keys, the factory owners manual, the factory service manual (expensive and important) and the stock hand guards that are a bit rough. I’m sure I’m forgetting other work I performed or other bits that are included, I’ll update the listing if anything else comes to mind. That was all the good parts, now for the not so good parts: The paint on the gas tank is bubbling, the bike has a plastic tank and the fuel vapors have caused the paint to bubble, I would say it has around 18 bubbles ranging in size from a dime to a silver dollar, I've show a few in the pictures. The bike has been used as was intended; it looks like it was dropped once or twice in the woods at very low speeds. It has some touched up marks on the right side and on the front fender. You can see them in the pictures also. The Givi bags have some marks on them, from storage most likely but they cleaned up really well. At some point the glass was broken in the speedometer so I had to replace the whole thing, it was working when I removed it and I’m sure the mileage is correct. To me these problems are minor, appearance wise I would say the bike is a 8 out of 10, mechanically it’s a 9.5 out of 10, it’s close to perfect. To me this bike really needs nothing but to be ridden and enjoyed. If you have any questions please ask, if you need other pictures just let me know. The bike is located near Boone North Carolina and I MIGHT be able to help with local transportation. Take a look at my perfect feedback, I’m a straight shooting honest seller, I try my best to describe my items accurately, if anything I make the bad parts sound worse than they really are. I’ve sold several motorcycles on ebay and every winner has been very happy.
