Vehicle Detail
Selling a 96 chevy lumina that is bi fuel cng. The car used to be a gov't owned car in New york used for parking enforcement. Someone from NJ bought it and put I think about 60k miles on it over the years he had it, and then I got it and put another 20 or 30k on it over the few years i had it, from 120k to 150k that it's at now. I believe the cng tanks are full but the cng system isn't working and I don't know why. I know there are aftermarket kits you can buy to get it back to cng again as a plan B. The tanks still have some years left on them.. The car has been a daily driver up until a few months ago. There are two problems with the car, it needs an alignment and I believe the transmission pan is leaking like a drop or two over night. I had the problem before and tightening upthe pan bolts solved it, although i didn't use any lock tight and i think one may have loosened again due to vibration. The engine and the transmission both run great though. There is a check engine light on too, I havent' investigated what it's related to. It usually just means a sensor needs to be replaced. I can't find my code reader and the tags are dead so I don't want to drive it anywhere. This would be a great cheap car for someone who wants to take to arizona and get tax credits as it's never been registered there. CNG tanks (and vehicles) will probablyget very expensive again as gas is expected to go over $5 a gallon. The trunk lock is also missing because i once locked my keys in the trunk and had to pop the lock out.I'm sure a replacement lock could be had for about $7 or so at autozone. I keep a screwdriver next to the driver seat and just use that as a key for the trunk lock. One last thing, the trailing arm was replaced and one of the bolts used to replace it was stronger than the factory bolt but was shaped different so there was a slightgap which makes a noise sometimes when the back rear passenger side wheel goes over a bump. The AC stopped blowing cold at the end of last summer, i didnt' investigate why. Other than that stuff, the car runs and drives pretty good. It has a well working Am/FM CD player stereo. I would drive this car anywhere with complete confidence. I have no hesitation to put my family in it andgo anywhere if the tags were good. So this can be a great little project cng car, or you could buy the car and sell the cng tanks out of the back and get a few hundred dollarsback. Normally these cars go for like $2500 to $3000 the last time i checked in good condition, but being that this car needs some work i'm starting the bid quite low. here are 2 videos, of the engine and driving the car. notice the car drives smooth and quiet. http://img828.imageshack.us/img828/2811/a9pm.mp4 http://img704.imageshack.us/img704/3669/51e.mp4
