Vehicle Detail
This auction is for a 1970 El Camino SS. This vehicle was purchased at an estate sale this September by a friend of mine- two months later I ended up buying it off of him with full intentions of restoring it over the winter and enjoying it this summer but, with the economy, owed taxes, and other pending bills I am forced to sell. From what I can tell the El Camino was restored some years ago. The paint has a good shine, and from twenty feet away looks great but, up close the paint is showing signs of cracking and down at the bottom it has some body filler swelling out. The frame is in good shape. The floor pans have been patched and can use repair. The black vynal top is in good shape but, I can see some rust blisters underneath. The hood is cowl induction with hood pins and a rear flapper. The rear flapper has been wired shut. It looks like it needs new hardware to make it functional. The bed is in decent shape with a little weather checking and loose paint around the edges. The interior is in fair shape. The bench seat has one hole on the drivers back side. The headliner is good, Dash pad has some cracks and could use new carpet. Has round gauges. The motor is a 396 that runs and sounds great. It has headers with flowmaster mufflers and 3 inch pipes all the way back. This is also a factory air car but is missing the compressor and other parts. The engine has some what of a loop to it so it may have a aftermarket camshaft. The transmission is a 400 turbo and has disk brakes. The rear end is a 12 bolt posi tract. Not sure of the gear ratio. The tires are new. 215-70-15 front and 275-60-15. The rims are 8" wide. SS rally wheels in nice shape. Glass is in good shape. Chrome & mouldings are good to fair. Overall I believe the El Camino to be a very desirable Muscle car with alot of potential but being 40 years old needs some restoration. Im setting my price at less than what I paid for it which in my opinion is low. Sold AS IS. Thanks for looking have a great holiday.
