Vehicle Detail
NO RESERVE! Family Emergency Forces Quick Sale! NO RESERVE! Up for grabs is a 1988 Mercedes Benz 560 SL. It comes with two tops (soft and hard), a big 5.6 Litre V8, and original everything except the stereo. The paint is in remarkably good condition - it has one rust pimple near the front cowl. From what I can tell, the car has never been hit - it is VERY straight. No dents, no real dings, just minor scuffs and scratches. The autocheck report is very clean - average score is 43 - this car scores a 71. The interior is in fair to average condition. The seats need to be recovered, and the center console wood is faded and cracked. The dash has small cracks, but instead of replacing it, just use a dash cover. The cracks are not severe at all. The engine is very strong, but it does blow smoke. A local Mercedes mechanic told me that it just needs a fuel distributor. These cost about $125 plus shipping here on eBay, and from the looks of it, it would take about 2 hours to install - I just don't have the time. I was told that the upper end of the motor was rebuilt about 30,000 miles ago, but I have no way to prove that or document it. But I will say this: it runs very strong - just solve the fuel distributor issue. It is difficult to start initially - some starting fluid does the trick though. Speculation is that the cold start valve needs to be replaced to solve that issue (this is a 5 minute job). I am also told that it needs an idle relay (it idles a little high). These run between $50 and $80 here on eBay. This is located behind the glove box, and again, it should be a 5 minute fix. Here is an eBay link to the parts that needs to be replaced: eBay 560SL Fuel Distributors eBay 560SL Idle Relays eBay 560SL Cold Start Valves A family illness has forced us to move unexpectedly, so this car needs to go ASAP. It comes with lien sale paperwork, and the new owner will be responsible for any and all DMV fees associated with buying a car. There is no license plate, so it can not be driven - you must tow the car to it's next location. Use BUY IT NOW ($3500), and I will have it towed for you free of charge (up to 40 miles). Please email me with any questions. stewartmotorsport2010@yahoo.com Disclaimer: This car is sold "AS IS" and "WHERE IS" meaning that the winning bidder is responsible to do their due diligence prior to bidding, and is also responsible for any and all DMV fees, as well as transportation of the vehicle after sale. We in no way guarantee this car in any way, shape, or form. We are leaving town for good on Monday, January 3, so this car MUST be gone by then. Preferably on Thursday, December 30. We'll even offer incentives to get it done quickly - just ask! On Dec-28-10 at 21:04:01 PST, seller added the following information: UPDATE: We are leaving town on Friday, December 31 in the AM. The paperwork process for this car (including full payment in either cash or verifiable cahsier's check) must be handled by no later than 11AM on Friday, December 31 2010 - otherwise I rent a trailer and haul it to Northern California and re-sell it there. I will respect it and understand if so.
