Vehicle Detail

1955 chrysler Windsor Newport 2 door hardtop mild custom 300 Thanks for checking out one of my very awesome old cars. The car is a 1955 chrysler windsor 2 door nice and dry Colorado car. There are a few of these cars around in 4 door trim but even less in 2 door. The engine is the factory 301 polyspherical v8. The 301 is the same engine as the 331 hemi/poly just has a smaller bore. The engine was so nice it didn't even need an over bore. After the short block of the engine was fully rebuilt with new bearings seals ect. early hemi heads were fitted with all the right factory parts. To give the engine a little more attitude a Isky 435 lift cam was installed. The cam makes the engine nice and responsive with just a slight bid of idle rump. To give it a bit more power a stock 4 barrel intake manifold and rebuilt carter WCFB carburator was put in place. Just the engine rebuild cost me $2800. The car came from the factory with a shifter on the dash and a 2 speed automatic powerflight transmission. The car now has a 3 speed torqflight from a 1957 chrysler imperial. The 3 speed will make a big differnce in take off acceleration and highway cruising as well as mpg. The windsor front grill section was removed and replaced with a 1956 chrysler imperial grill valance and dual chrome grilles. The grille change makes the car look like a 1955 chrysler 300! With the imperial/300 grille it really gives the car a totaly differnt 300 performance look. The interior was redone with nice leather like texture vinyl and micro fiber suede like material. The door panel's were also given the same treatment using the factory stainless and chrome. The car comes with a clear Colorado title. All the parts are there and come with the car. This car I hate to see go but I cant restore them all. The car on the low side is worth $3000. The engine cost $2800 and thats all ready using the stock engine as a core. The interior cost me $1200 All the rest in parts and labor has been close to 3000. So needless to say I have almost all of the spendy things done. This car would also be perfect for somebody that already had a real 1955 300 in the midst of restoration that was a basket case and or just to far gone to work with. I was going to have it painted but I am gonna leave that for the next person. Think of it as a clean canvas that you can paint your own picture. Check out the google image search for examples of this very awesome car. Here are some video Links of the car for sale. Here is some history from wikipedia about the first 300. This first of the letter series cars didn't actually bear a letter; it can retroactively be considered the '300A'. The 'C-' designation was applied to all Chrysler models, however for marketing purposes the numerical series skipped more than 225 numbers forward in sequence in order to further reinforce the 300's bhp rating. The 300 originally stood for the 300 hp (220 kW) engine. The C-300 was really a racecar sold for the road for homologation purposes, with Chrysler's most powerful engine, the 331 cu in (5.4 L) FirePower "Hemi" V8, fitted with twin 4-barrel carburetors, a race-profiled camshaft setup, solid valve lifters, stiffer suspension and a performance exhaust system. This was the first American production car to top 360 hp (270 kW), and the letter series was for many years the most powerful car produced in the United States by a fair margin. The car's "Forward Look" styling can be attributed as much to the Chrysler parts bin as designer Virgil Exner. The front clip, including the grille, was taken from the Imperial of the same year, but the rest of the car did not look like an Imperial. The midsection was from a New Yorker hardtop, with a Windsor rear quarter. Exner tweaked the design to integrate these elements, including fitting base-model Chrysler bumpers, and removing the exterior mirrors for reduced drag at high speeds. Measured at 127.58 mph (205.32 km/h) in the Flying Mile, and doing well in NASCAR, the C-300 aroused a lot of interest that was not reflected in its modest sales figure of 1,725 built. Thanks for looking and bidding feel free to ask any question you might have.
