It is a very low mileage totally rust free and mechanically sound beauty. The interior is in exceptional original condition. Since this was the last year before Catalytic Converters the car is very quick and nimble with better MPG than newer SLs. This classic SL still feels very tight to drive. The Real Dayton Wire Rims fitted with New Bridgestone All Season Turanza Serenity tires add to the ride quality. The paint quality is excellent and the body is totally rust free. It is a pleasure to drive and as well as to look at. The Mercedes SL-Class R107 chassis had a long production that spanned over 18 years from 1971 to 1989. They offered the larger engines from the S-Class vehicles in a mid-size chassis and the result was a car that would become a status symbol of the 70's and 80's. These cars offer truly timeless styling and when you drive one you know you're driving a fine piece of German machinery. The SL Roadster's just feel solid they are dead reliable and they have backed up their reputation for having quality engineering over the years. This fine example is an early model that is somewhat rare. The 350SL was only imported into the U.S. for two years 1972 and 1973. It was then quickly replaced by the 450SL which would run from 1973-1980. The 1972 and 1973 350SL's were fitted with the larger 4.5L V8 engine that would later be found in the 450SL. 350SL's like this are extremely rare and have the smaller front bumpers for a more classic look when compared to later SL models. They also represent the first of the breed of what would become a very long and successful model run for Mercedes. It has just been serviced at award winning Viti Mercedes Dealership: 10 point inspection, drivetrain, brakes, fluids, belts, spark plugs, tune up, replaced all fuses and more. There are a few items left to finish but all of the major items are very solid. The only items that still need addressing: Muffler rattles a little over slow bumps but does not leak A/C dash knob needs replacing Dash Clock lights but does not keep time Small chip in windshield Gas gauge sticks sometimes
