Vehicle Detail
This auction is for TWO Triumph Spitfires! "Buttercup" is a 1975 Triumph Spitfire in Mimosa Yellow. (Titled as a 1975, chassis identification badge lists Oct 1974 as manufactured date.) Mileage shows 70,574 but odometer is not hooked up. The engine is an inline 4 cyl with 4 speed transmission and it has been upgraded with twin carburettors. This is not the original engine, it is from the parts car which is a 1978 model. Features a sporty 4 branch exhaust, luggage rack, and British flags on the bonnet. The body is in good condition, floor pans have been replaced and some rust repair done to rear right quarter panel. There is some rust in the trunk (see picture) and a little bit along the bottom edge beneath the doors. Beautiful dashboard and steering wheel in excellent condition. Seat covers and carpet in good condition.Wheels have original Triumph rims in good shape, tires are in good condition. There are no dents on the body; there are a few small chips in the paint on the left side around the door. Both front and back bumpers are in good shape. Driver's side interior door handle doesn't work (You have to roll the window down and open from the outside). Two pin holes in soft top. Seat belts do not retract. Doors are sagging a bit on their hinges. This vehicle has been in storage for much of the past 5 years. Most recently it was taken off the road because of a gas tank leak. After replacing the gas tank (2 months ago) it was running and the engine sounded strong, but would then sputter out; it seemed to be a fuel line or fuel pump issue. The sellers do not know enough about mechanics to specifically diagnose the problem. The parts car is a 1978 Triumph Spitfire. Engine, gas tank, door interiors and lights have been harvested among other things. According to the previous owner, he bought the parts car because he wanted to switch out something from the rear end that caused a rattling at higher speeds, but the sellers never took the yellow car above 55 and never had a problem. These vehicles are being auctioned in "as is" condition as listed above. To our knowledge and experience the engine runs strong and does not have any major issues, simply the kind of problems that are normal for a car of this age and description. The buyer is responsible for pick-up and insurance. Buyer to make payment in full and collect vehicles within 10 days of close of auction. Please email with any questions. Thank you and Good Luck!
