Untitled-1 "Kills Bugs Fast" This all original 1976 Porsche 912e is very collectible due to some of its options (A/C, power roof, power windows). It has a clean history and only one owner which lives and purchased it in Santa Barbara, California 34 years ago. That has been his primary transportation for all of those years. The Porsche has been services by Schneider Autohaus since new. Porsche made only 2092 of this model but what makes this vehicle stand out even more are the electric roof, air-conditioning and power windows. Those three options were installed on less then 200 of this model by Porsche. Unfortunately the power roof and airconditioning don't seem to be functioning. Other than that the car is a blast to drive. The Porsche has been repainted professionally twice but the paint is begging to chip again. The dark blue spots on the photos are homemade repairs to prevent rust as the car is almost entirely rust free. The Porsche has 309 000 miles on it. It drives well and there is nothing that needs immidiate attention. The clutch works well and the gears shift smoothly. NO RUST or rust issues. Glass is excellent! All gauges are fully functional. Called the 912e, this sports car was specially designed and rated for those who could not afford the 911. The letter 'e' in the 912e stood for 'Einspritzung', which means 'fuel injection' in German. The 912e is powered by a 1971 engine producing about 86 BHP at 4900 RPM. The air-cooled engine is installed with four cylinders and eight valves. The bore x stroke ratio is 94.00 x 71.00 mm, whereas the compression ration of this sports car is 8.00:1. The broad wheelbase of 2272 mm gives a sturdy ride on rough terrain. Options included electric sunroof, limited slip, and air conditioning. With its 21 U.S. gallon fuel tank and fuel-efficient engine, the 912E's driving range may be the best of any Porsche ever made, 600+ miles. By the end of 912E production, the factory had produced 2092, delivered primarily to North America. The 2099th and final 912E constructed also became the last air-cooled four-cylinder car produced by Porsche.
