Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 2003 Black Subaru Baja – 88,250 miles - well maintained Purchased this car in August, 2006 (off Ebay) from a Miami car dealer. Drove it to Charlotte from Miami and averaged 30mpg on the highway. Car gets from 27-30 on the highway and 19-22 around town on regular gas. Never smoked in. Never wrecked. Aftermarket locking bed cover. Comes with a Yakima roof bike rack and a trailer hitch (never towed anything, just a four post bike rack). Auto transmission. All power equipment works. A/C blows cold. We had a lot of fun with this car/truck, hauling bikes and going to the mountains, but we are just not using it much now. Put less than 5,000 miles on it this year. Please read the detailed AutoCheck. The CARFAX when I purchased the car (off Ebay) in 2006 is attached in the last photos. If you read the most current AutoCheck, there is a discrepancy from when I purchased the Baja. Please note there is no record of any damage or accident then, nor is there any record of an accident since then. I have no idea what the two Florida items are while it was at a dealer. The car grades out very highly and drives straight and true and always has. The latest report is a mystery to me. To give you some comfort the frame is undamaged, I have attached a report from an independent body shop (the local Ford dealership whom I had never patronized before). They used a laser guided frame machine to measure the straightness of the frame and I quote, “Inspected under carriage and vehicle has cosmetic issues that can be resolved with undercoating on frame rails. We set this vehicle up on a frame machine and measured the frame. There is no measurement issues (sic) due to a loss or damage.” They first visually inspected the undercarriage and offered to touch up the scraped areas with undercoating for $150. Instead, I paid $200 so you could have some assurance that I did not cover anything up and the frame is indeed straight. The Baja has the same 4 Goodrich Touring T/A’s that were on it when I bought it (225/60) and the wear pattern is even. Also, there is no lien on this car. I paid cash for it and it has a clear North Carolina title. I'm not sure AutoCheck really provides reliable data based on the "frame damage" issue described above and the fact that they say the car has a lien. All I have to do is have my signature notarized on the title and the car is yours. I will be unable to reply to email questions Thursday and Friday. Will respond when I can. I will be happy to pick up up at the CLT airport, or local AMTRAK or bus station. I flew to Miami to buy the car and it was a nice mini-vacation driving it home. Synthetic oil changes every 5,000 miles. Just changed the oil and filter this week. All service records since I bought it. Just passed the NC safety inspection last week. September 2006 – new front and rear brake pads March 2007 – transmission fluid change – radiator flush October 2007 – new oxygen sensor, clean fuel injectors December 2007 – new spark plugs May 2008 – A/C Freon recharge May 2008 – U-Haul trailer hitch to carry second bike rack August 2009 – transmission fluid change – radiator flush, replace alternator belt October 2009 – new front and rear brake pads December 2009 – replace front axle (vibration issue) - done by the Subaru dealer The Good Excellent gas mileage. Well built car. Never been in an accident. Well maintained. Very versatile and can haul a lot of bikes and outdoor equipment. Aftermarket locking bed cover. Very good crash test rating. Four wheel drive all the time and good in the snow (not that it snows much in Charlotte). Never used off-road. The Bad Not a good car for tall folks. I used this Baja to move my two sons back and forth to college and they are 6’5” and 6’3” and are too big for it. They have no interest in it so I’m selling it. Not recommended for anybody over 6’ tall. This is not a full size pickup, it won’t haul a bed or a refrigerator, but it has a lot of flexible space with the back seat down and the bed extender out. See the pictures for how the seat folds flat and the cargo door opens into the bed. Decent pep, but it is a 4cyl. Will need tires soon. The Ugly Some big tar stains on the driver side panel (see picture). The aftermarket bed cap is starting to fade (see the last picture, the sun is reflecting badly but you can see the fading). A can of black spray paint would take care of it. Small glob of white paint on floor of bed. Some scratches on the vinyl back seat storage arm rest.. Some scratches on the back bumper cover from removing old bumper stickers. Normal wear and tear for a seven year old car, normal dings and paint condition.
