Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 For Sale: 1983 Mercedes Benz 300SD with a rebuilt Engine and Transmission and all new Biodiesel B100 Fuel Lines. This luxury 300SD Benz was purchased by me three months ago to get me back and forth to work while my Jeep Liberty CRD was being repaired and improved for better performance and better gas mileage. This Benzo has 266,432 miles showing on its non-functional odometer, but the engine was replaced with a rebuilt 100,000-120,000 mile engine and the transmission was rebuilt as well. The engine and drive-train are in great condition and this vehicle gets 28-29 miles per gallon, according to my GPS. I purchased it from a fellow member of the Baltimore Biodiesel Co-operative (www.baltimorebiodiesel.org) with the intention of converting it to also be able to run on SVO (Straight Vegetable Oil). Forget hybrids, if you want to reduce you car's exhaust pollution output, go with biodiesel and if you are super hard-core "green", convert it to run on used cooking grease, as well. I looked into Greasecar (www.greasecar.com) and Frybrid (www.frybrid.com) Systems, but the cost of the system plus the installation cost is more than another different SVO running Mercedes that I found and recently purchased. So this one has got to go!! When new, this car was one of the more expensive cars on the market. It was over $39,000 (in 1983 dollars) to buy, so it was top of the line. It has a 3.0 Liter 5 Cylinder Mercedes Diesel Engine, and is a rear-wheel drive vehicle. It goes 0-60mph in 11-12 seconds, and the only visible gray exhaust (no black soot!!) is when you really put the pedal to the metal. If you are looking at this listing you should know not to expect a super-tuned compact performance vehicle with tremendous 0-60 speed. But it easily gets to 75-80mph on the highway and will comfortably get you away from traffic, if you prefer to drive with a heavy foot. These engines are known as million mile engines. With proper maintenance, this one should last for a long time. When you realize that the car is over 4700 pounds and has 123 horsepower, you come to realize that 28-29 m.p.g.'s is miraculous. The previous owner and myself only filled it up with Bio99.9 from the Co-op pump at Mill Valley Garden Center (located at 28th & Sisson Street in Baltimore). The last two fill-ups were with B20 (20% Biodiesel/80% Petroleum Diesel) from the new Merriweather Post Pavilion pump (in Columbia, MD) because it is now getting colder and I didn't want this car's fuel lines to gel up. Regardless, biodiesel has detergent properties and I always topped it off with Power Service and/or Lucas Oil fuel supplements, so I can guarantee you will be getting a clean-driving diesel car. I put over $750.00 into this vehicle to tag it as a "normal" vehicle here in Maryland, but the odometer doesn't work, so I tagged it historic just to get it on the road. Some of the work done: all filters replaced (oil, fuel, and air), transmission valves were adjusted for smoother shifting, the lower front passenger control arm replaced, new battery & new alternator, KYB Shocks in front, new headlights and tag lights and new fuel lines (all with the aforementioned B100 fuel lines). It would have passed Maryland State Inspection, except for the odometer. It comes with five (!!) spare tires, four are matching Sumitomo tires with powder-coated black MB wheels in the trunk. The radio is the stock factory Becker tape deck stereo. I hooked up my iPod via a tape deck connection and the speakers still sounds good. I will include another Becker head unit, free of charge. Its exterior is in good condition, as it was recently re-painted in a nice shade of light green. The interior is a bit rougher. The heat works really well, but the A/C does not. I will include a new EGR Valve and a new A/C compressor to the buyer, free of charge. I have a clean Maryland title ready to go. More pictures are available upon request via email or write and make a request for a time to come by and see it. It is located in Elkton, Maryland at RC Automotive - 307 N. Bridge St. Full Payment is due within 3 days of auction close, with a $500.00 down payment due immediately after auction close. PayPal preferred. Money Orders or Bank Certified Checks will be accepted with prior notice. Car will be released after funds are obtained. No Personal Checks. On Nov-16-10 at 16:46:33 PST, seller added the following information:There are KYB Shocks on the front AND rear of the car! Thanks for looking! On Nov-17-10 at 10:56:11 PST, seller added the following information:I am only going to be including the additional A/C compressor into this listing IF the purchase price goes over $3000.00. Thank you!
