1989 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ62 My Daughter named her "Christy The Cruiser" when I bought her sometime in the late 90s she was the cheapest one I could find and I new that the bad sounding knock coming from the engine could be a problem. I bought her anyway because the her overall shape. She had no rust and very few dings and she had been bought and kept in Carolina her whole life. I drove her about a year before the engine failed and when it did I took it as a opportunity to fix something that was kind of bothering me, she was bit slow for day to day driving and she didn't get very good gas mpg either. So I called advanced adapters and bought a conversion kit. I put a GM small block 350 crate motor in her and fixed the problem. Now she is fun to drive and on the highway with the air off she gets about 17mpg not bad for a big rig with 33" tires, and the mpg's are better than she got with her original GM designed straight 6. Her paint is fresh and shiny I think it is a 71 VW Van Color, Looks great with white on the top to keep her cool. And the rims off a FJ40 are a great touch if you ask me, "Toyota should have done that themselves" The rims they put on these trucks are not good looking. Some of you maybe wondering why a FJ62 has a grill like a FJ60 and the answer is because I never liked the look of the 62's squire headlights, so when we had her stripped down for paint I made the switch. Christy has been the best car I have ever owned she has never failed to get us were we where going even when her original engine failed she got the family home and then locked up. We have driven her all over the country two times to Austin TX summer trips to Newport RI Three trips to the FL Keys pulling a Vintage Airstream camper, people all the way honking and giving us the thumbs up. She draws a crowed were ever she goes. She is a part of the family and will be missed but times are tough. Happy Bidding! Thanks for your time! Here is a breakdown on Christy's overall state. Engine: Runs great, I have noticed a bit of carbon from time to time at start up lately. She may need a tune up. Burns no oil and has no leaks. Great pressure and compression. Transmission/Transfer Case: Rebuilt last year $3800 spent no leaks on trans, but there is a damp area at the transfer case yoke. Both work perfect. Interior: The real leather seats are in good condition. The carpet looks good throughout. Dash has little split at the old speaker. There are no rips in the headliner but looks old and dirty. Paint: This is a RUST FREE FJ! I MEAN NO RUST ANYWERE! not even surface rust on the frame. It was painted to change the color and it was done right. But you should Know that she is a driver and has some imperfections from the road. Heat & Air: Both work very well. Exhaust: New, nice and quiet. Things that don't work or I would fix: I would like to have new seals for all the doors. The wipers work but only on fast speed. The sun visors are missing. The stereo sux.
