Thanks for looking. This is a 1980 450SLC R107 with 247,000 miles and runs fine. I am the 3rd owner purchased with 145,000 on it and used since purchase as a daily drive year round. Has been very reliable and very well maintained although some repairs are getting ahead of us. If you are looking at this ad you already know this model is referred to as the panzerwagon as it is bullet proof and designed/constructed for longevity. Passed the last Pa state inspection no problems. Anthracite Grey exterior color all original equipment expect as noted below The car has the standard 4.5 liter V8, 3 speed transmission and fully loaded for a car from the 80’s. Standard equipment: 4.5 liter V8 3 speed transmission A/C Power windows front and rear Sunroof Leather interior Rear wheel drive AM/FM (replaced) Now let’s take a closer look starting from the front; Exterior – Front bumper in excellent condition rubber bumpers with minimal cracking as was usual for these models. Grill headlights and headlight trim all in great condition. Hood is the standard steel with no rust. New MB star decal on the hood. The side body bumpers are in good shape a few of the tabs have been replaced that hold the bumpers to the body. Classic areas of rust which have been repaired 5 years ago and shows signs on coming back – classic areas for rust – rear sill area front and rear wheel wells and jack areas all ports. These were repaired about 5 years ago when the whole car was professional painted using OEM colors in a 2 part system using clear coat vs acrylic coating. The rear deck is great as well as the lights. Rear bumper rubber bumper guards do have the typical cracking. Front windshield about 2 years old, rear window has the typical delamination along the bottom although the seal was repaired and no longer leaks. The rear vanity louvers were rebuilt re painted and reinstalled so they no longer leak. What’s new replaced repaired: New paint New OEM painted wheel’s Tires have about 30K miles left on them Michelin brand New front windshield New not OEM bottom sill trim New hood decal Interior – Front black leather seats replaced about 5 years ago and in way better than average condition, they adjust fine forward and back as well as decline. The hinge covers are burl wood vs the chrome plated plastic and look great. The dash has one very small crack, steering wheel has new MB star, shift knob replaced with Burl knob. Rear seat is showing its age with some dry cracks on the top. All seat belts work and adjust fine. All power window switches and windows work fine as well as the sunroof. The headliner is 9/10 condition. Overall the interior on this is very very nice. All interior switches except the rear window defroster work. All instrument gauges work as well as all interior lights What’s new replaced repaired; New Alpine AM/FM/CD stereo system complete with three separate High out amps mounted in trunk New Infinity rear speakers New rear deck carpet Replaced front leather on seats Portable subwoofer (behind front driver seat) Newer floor mat front and back Mechanical – engine - starting with the engine has been very well cared for, oil changed every 3000-4000 miles (2 gallon capacity). All fuel filter/injectors/injector seals replaced. Runs smooth, however very slow off the starting line – classic issue with these cars for the engine and weight. All engine mechanical items work except the cruise control which was removed. Oil pressure goes right up on starting and stays there. There is an oil leak from the valve covers and a small one starting possibly from the rear seal. What’s new replaced repaired in the last 3 years; New air filters New fuel distributor (expensive!) Injectors and seals Distributor cap and rotor New fuel hoses (engine compartment) New vac hoses New contoured air hoses New rebuilt alternator New water pump Timing chain and upper guides replaced at 200K miles Belts replaced 3 years ago Mechanical – transmission/drive/everything else - transmission shifts well and operates in all gears fine. Flex discs replaced as well as center support bearing. After the replacements there is a grinding sound like a shield is running on the shaft but no vibrations to indicate any failure. Trans rear seal leaks and does need constant monitoring; the rear differential has a very small leak check it once a year. All brakes pads have good life left, all calipers function, fronts rebuilt a few years ago. Parking brake holds fine. A/C actually worked fine until the compressor went last year. Suspension all good – newer tie rods, replaced power steering box, all ball joints. Rear springs and fine with little sagging. Besides the car will include the original owner’s manual, spare tire, and all installed equipment. Overall considering its age is a nice find. Rides tight, corners very well, typical rattles etc, do not expect good gas performance – does take regular however will get 12-16 around town and 20 highway – best we got was 22. You will find it drives well loves high speed, if you are looking for a perfect specimen of this car this is not it, if you are looking for a daily driver and are willing to put some sweat equity will not fail you. We have enjoyed the years with the car however limited garage space and too many cars means this one has to go. Thanks
