Vehicle Detail
Up for bids is this treasure from the 70's that is ready and in prime condition for a restoration to it's old glory, or becoming a custom hot rod! This 1971 Opel Gt 1.1 liter powered sports coupe has been sitting for the past 6 years and has not been started since it was parked. ONLY 43,618 miles! I am not sure if it is the 1.1 liter or the 1.9 liter but if someone can tell me how to find out, I will gladly check. It will need a fair amount of re-conditioning before being roadworthy, but the potential is DEFINITELY there, and the car is still very very solid. This car has less rust then most cars from the 80's and even 90's have. There is one small rusty spot under the passenger seat, otherwise, there is NO rust on the whole vehicle. The pictures of the inside floor boards make them look rusty, but that is just the dark sound proofing material that is dirty and has peeled up. The floor of the car is very solid. There are a few small dings here and there and the back of the car around the lights and license plats has a couple wrinkles, but all in all, the body is extremely straight and even looks good with the coat of primer that is on it. The roll over headlights function great and add even more character to this cool little car! All the glass on the car is in good condition and has no issues at all. The original gas tank is there and shows no signs of rust or contamination. The car looks to be about 99% complete. Several lights are gone, and the carpet is not on the floor, but otherwise, I did not notice anything missing. I know the car will need the interior re-done, some portions of the electrical repaired, a new steering wheel(the one on it slips on the shaft) and a window crank for the driver window. If these things are done, I am pretty sure the car will start and drive. I have owned quite a few project cars, and this car would be one of the easiest projects to complete that I have seen. It is so complete, intact, and rust free that it would be a very manageable and worth while project..... If you are looking for something out of the ordinary that will catch EVERYONE'S eye, then take advantage of this opportunity, because these cars are getting exceedingly hard to find and you just might never find another one in this good of shape.... Thanks for looking, and feel free to email or call me at 903-916-0117 with any questions... Payment and shipping options: PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS BEFORE BIDDING!!!! A $500 deposit is due WITHIN 12 hours of auction completion. This is NON-NEGOTIABLE! The balance is due within 3 day of auction end. This auction is for local pick up, OR buyer arranges ALL shipping with a private shipper, OR I will deliver it for $1.65 per LOADED mile. Delivery charges will be charged 50% up front, and the remainder when the car arrives safely to it's new owner. This car does NOT have a title and will be sold with a bill of sale only. Filing for a new title is not a big deal and should not be hard to get. Good luck bidding on this awesome and rare car! I look forward to meeting the new owner! I apologize for any confusion. Thanks for for the info to those who corrected me, and good luck bidding! Thanks...
