This truck began life in southern California and was built over a 7 year period. Everything on this truck is a one-off, hand built item, everything down to the custom truck bed hardware and the screws for the door jamb latches. The Phantom 40 was entered in and WON two different "Invitation Only" shows. Both shows were back in 2002-3, The Grand National Roadster Show was it's first show and it won the Sweepstakes. Then in 2003 it WON the Fresno Autorama. This is a true SoCal Hot Rod and show winner. After winning those two shows the truck was retired and not shown again until the owner/builder sold it last year. The original owner estimated the cost to build in excess of $125,000 and when you see the detail behind this show truck you won't be surprised. This Truck is really that nice. The engine is a built Chevy 283 with performance parts such as a Demon carb, Edelbrock intake, stainless valves, and roller rockers. The bottom end of the engine is mostly stock. The 40 Phantom Hot Rod also features a automatic trans. The rearend has low gearing and is from a Ford Mustang. The DVD and CD player are located in the rear of the truck bed and are connected to a video screen located in the center of the dash in a drop down compartment (NOTE - The DVD/CD stereo system is not currently working). A simply I-Pod connected to the AV jack on the Amp will fix this stereo up to 2010 standards. The stereo features 2 Orion amplifiers and a sub in the floor of the truck bed . The air-ride suspension will put this show truck VERY LOW to the ground, as you can see from the photos. It will also allow the truck to raise to a level with almost 8 inches of clearance, plenty of distance from the ground and that will let you cruise or drive to the show. Additionally, this truck is as meticulous from the underside as it is from the top. This truck will stand up to your examination. The Dove Gray leather interior (By James Chiu) make this custom a joy to drive! Lift the tonneau cover to reveal a completely show finished truck bed ( with the original show trophies in the bed). The Light Aqua paint is a PPG shade that was done in 30% clear on the third coat. Meticulously sanded and then done in an all Clearcoat finishing 4th coat. This truck is beyond beautiful and nothing is left to apologize for on this perfect show truck. The Flowmaster mufflers sound great at idle or running down the road.
