THIS IS NOT THAT CAR. THIS IS A CAR ONLY FOR A BENZ ENTHUSIAST, A BUYER THAT WILL KEEP IT PRISTINE, AND WILL CARE FOR IT FOR THE NEXT 200K MILES. THIS CAR IS FOR SOMEONE THAT CAN APPRECIATE THE DETAILS DESCRIBED BELOW, AND UNDERSTANDS THAT WITH THESE CARS YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. YOU WON'T HAVE TO SPEND THE USUAL $5K+ THAT YOU DO ON EVERY OTHER 20 YEAR OLD 560SEC OUT THERE. ALL THE BIG STUFF HAS BEEN DONE ALREADY. THERE ARE BEATER SEC'S, NICE SEC'S, VERY NICE ONES, AND MINT ONES. THIS ONE IS MINT......PERIOD. IN TERMS OF HER OPERATING CONDITION, IT’S MINT AS WELL. Here's the deal: -- This is 1989 560SEC coupe in 040 black with black leather interior and matching black carpets. It has 81,xxx original miles, and has been Benz dealer serviced with records that can be verified by Mercedes. One recent owner drove it very little until he passed away and his grandson sold his cars. Then another owner in CA. It has a clear title with no issues, and no problems. -- -- Exterior 9 out of 10 (I'm finicky) - Great overall condition paint, body, glass, and trim. Few if any dings, scuffs, or scratches. It looks sweet, with a deep glossy shine to the black paint. This car looks great even under fluorescent light in a garage. Please keep in mind you are viewing this car without any sort of detailing...just a wash and vacuum. -- -- The body panels are all original. Every panel, including the front and rear bumpers, have their factory VIN# stickers in place. This car has never been in an accident, not even to the bumpers! Even the lower side-body moldings are clean and shiny. Glass/rubber/chrome/trim is all good. -- -- I have replaced the worn OEM wheels and tires, seen in most photos, with four triple-chromed factory alloy wheels in the photo below. The tires are at 50% but will be BRAND NEW for anyone that chooses the BIN. -- -- Interior 9 out of 10 - The interior overall including all seating and door leather, headliner, seat padding, dash, console, and carpets are in great original condition. No dash cracks, carpet rips, zero wear or cracking on the leather anywhere. The seats look and feel new. This car has an aftermarekt radio that works properly along with its power antenna. I took these interior pictures so you can see the actual carpeting that is UNDER the mats....it's spotless like everything else. For a 21 year old car, it's WAY beyond mint inside. -- -- The door panels and wood trim are also great, with some minor stress cracks, -- -- Even the trunk and spare are immaculate. The jack is unused, and the original tool roll and first-aid kit are new and intact. Please excuse the yellowish tint to the trunk photo....that's my camera's fault, not the trunk's! -- -- Electrical 10 out of 10 - All lights, switches, windows, wipers, seat motors, and power mirror work great. Nothing is amiss, including headrest motors and vacuum lock system. The radio is now an aftermarket Alpine and is not working, but I will supply a working CD aftermarket unit, or a working Becker OEM unit, at no additional charge. It's up to the winning bidder to choose the type of stereo they want. -- -- Both seat belt presenters are accounted for (the driver’s side motor is not working, although the plastic arm is fine). The HVAC system is fast to respond, and perfect with cold A/C and hot heat. Windows, sunroof, etc. all working to spec. -- -- Now we get to what only a true enthusiast will appreciate. Sure there are other cars that are all original, some that look new, and others where all systems work properly. But none that I have seen where ALL SYSTEMS WORK AS NEW like this car! On top of that, I challenge you to go drive some other 560SECs, and then drive mine. This car is so incredibly smooth on the road you won't believe it. All the controls, all the mechanicals, everything is like butter! Just a super-smooth ride and drive. Just like when it was new. -- -- Mechanical 10 out of 10 - Engine starts, idles (650RPM in park, 500RPM in drive when warmed up, no stupid high lumpy idle), runs, and revs to redline in every gear smooth and strong. Transmission is smooth and downshifts eagerly. It even has the "glide into reverse" feature that you usually only feel with new W126 transmissions....no abrupt engagement, just a silky smooth move to reverse. This 560SEC runs at high speed with no vibrations or noises. -- -- Engine is strong and VERY eager to run, transmission smooth and ready to drop down two gears at your command to rocket you past slower traffic. Brakes are solid and pedal feel is firm. Suspension is tight like new, steering nicely weighted with no play in the box, and alignment (including thrust angle for steering wheel centering) is perfect but will be done again for the winning bidder just because it was done most recently in 2007. No leaks or weird noises. This car drives and handles like new. -- -- This 560SEC includes the original MB books, clear title, keys, and most importantly, service records. Recent services include new battery, head gaskets, valve cover gaskets, drive belts, oil change, fuel line banjo fittings, alignment, and more in 2006. In 2007, more service, and in 2010 more still. Almost $4000 worth of work alone in late 2006, and more since then, to make it a “plug ‘n’ play” car for the next owner…just put gas in and go! -- -- This car does not have any rear suspension issues common to W126 cars, no trunk leak, no valve cover or head gasket gasket leaks. Everything is in great shape, and at 81K miles, it's not even broken in yet! -- If someone selects the buy-it-now option, I will provide the following: A set of brand new of Contnental all-season touring tires, a full tune-up including plugs, cap, rotor, wires, air filter, fuel filter, and oil/filter change. A full $200 detailing including engine bay, carpet shampoo, leather conditioning, orbital polishing, and hand wax. I will also provide four new black OEM Mercedes floor mats and Mercedes OEM touch-up paint. Finally, I’ll supply a new seat belt presenter motor and power antenna (they break often, so it's good to have a spare). That’s WELL over $2000 in value all included at the BIN price! -- -- Nits: A few minor scuffs on the bumper covers, some delamination in the right corner (out of line of sight) of the rear window, some scratches on the trunklid (some will come out in detailing), and THAT'S IT. Nothing else. As final payment for the vehicle, we will accept a certified bank check, bank loan check, wire transfer, or cash. We will not release the vehicle and/or title until funds clear back to the issuing bank. If you pay cash, you can pick up the vehicle immediately. If you pay by wire transfer the vehicle will be available for pickup once funds are available in our account. If you pay by bank check, you will have to wait until the funds clear back to the issuing bank unless alternative arrangements are made. If payment is made using a check we will hold all vehicles and titles for nine (9) days or until the funds clear back to the issuing bank. Bidder’s Age: You must be 18 years of age or older to bid. Storage Terms: Once a vehicle has been paid for in full, we will store it free of charge for five (5) calendar days and at nineteen ($19) dollars per day after that. Liquidated Damages: In the event that the winning bidder refuses to honor his/her obligation to purchase the vehicle, we shall be entitled to liquidated damages from that bidder in the amount of two thousand dollars plus two hundred dollars per one thousand dollars of the total purchase price of the vehicle.
