Vehicle Detail
This is a very rare 65 Rambler American that's been professionally restored with new paint and new interior. The drivetrain is original with a very rare flathead 6 cylinder engine and 3 speed manual transmission with a column shifter. The 196 cubic inch flathead is rare to see in an AMC in 1965 which turned out to be the last year the flathead motor was used. The engine starts easily, runs good and the transmission shifts well. It has newer tires and brakes and several new parts listed below. This car was extremely solid before the restoration as it originally came from Alabama a couple of years ago and you can tell by looking at the photos of the floorboards, underneath, and trunk how solid it is. It still retains all of the original metal body panels and stainless side trim which is also in good shape. The car is ready to drive and enjoy. The car has several new or newer parts that include: *New complete paint job of exterior and door jambs, painted about 6 weeks ago with acrylic urethane, candy apple red. *New door and trunk weatherstripping *New seat upholstery *New seat belts-2 installed for the front seat (no rear belts) *New heat shield on floor w/ new carpeting & floor mats *New heat shield on inside of roof w/ new headliner (glue-on type) *New carpet on rear deck panel by back window *New carpet in trunk *New starter solenoid *New ignition switch *New head gasket, the head has had a small repair on the top side only, it was sent to a local machine shop where it was pinned, machined and inspected before re-installing. The repair did not effect the underneath side of the head at all, photos are included of the top and underside of the head. *New chrome door mirrors *New tailpipe and chrome tip *Newer brakes and tires (was done shortly before I purchased it about 2 years ago *Door panels have been re-painted with vinyl paint, new vinyl on armrest *New thermostat, heater control valve, coolant, and oil change (there are NO oil or water leaks) I will include an extra set of dog dish type of Rambler hubcaps and trim rings. The front bumper is in good original condition. The rear bumper would need to be re-chromed or replaced for a show car. The original chrome body emblems are in fair to good condition (driver quality). The car is missing the wiper motor as it was not on the car when I bought it. The gas and temperature gauges are not working at this time. All of the exterior lights are working except for the license plate light. The heater is in working order, as well as the dash warning lights for the oil and alternator. This car is sure to draw a lot of attention going down the road as you just don't see many of these cars that have been restored. The winning bidder needs to contact me within 12 hours after the auction ends to confirm the sale and pick up arrangements. A $500 deposit is due within 48 hours of auction end in the form of Pay Pal, or money order or cashier's check sent by overnight mail. The remaining balance is due within 5 days of auction end in the form of a money order, cashier's check, or cash in person. All funds must clear my bank before the car is picked up. The car needs to be picked up within 14 days of auction end. There will be a $10/per day fee added after the 14 days unless arrangements have been approved by the seller. I would recommend towing it on a flatbed truck or auto transport trailer unless you live close enough to drive it home. Please look at all of the photos and e-mail with any questions before bidding. Bidders with 0 feedback, excessive negative feedback ratings, or less than 96% rating may have their bids canceled. The car is also listed locally for sale.
