For Sale 2004 Mustang SVT Cobra “The Terminator” 9,631 miles After a 38+ year career with Ford Motor Company, I retired several years ago. As a hobby I began looking for rare limited production Ford vehicles. This 2004 Mustang SVT Cobra was my first purchase. I just purchased a 2003 Ford F150 SVT Lightning. Although I would like to keep both vehicles, I only have room in my garage for one. This Mustang is rare in every respect. At the heart of the vehicle is a 4.6L DOHC Modular engine rated at 390 HP. It was later established the engine produces closer to 430 HP. It’s mated to A TTC six speed transmission. The SVT Independent Rear Suspension receives power through a specially designed Traction Lok Axle. It’s also equipped with All-Speed Traction Control and sits on 4 Goodyear Eagle F1, 275 X 40 ZR 17” inch tires (Original Tires). The vehicle being offered is # 1454 of 3,768 2004 Cobra Coupes produced in 2004. It is one of 509 painted Red Fire Metallic. The interior is Dark Charcoal Leather with Graphite Suede Inserts. The 2004 version of the Terminator is significantly rarer than the 2003. There were 13,476 Cobra Terminators produced in 2003 as compared to 5,664 in 2004. I have done extensive research on this vehicle to make sure it has not been altered or abused. This includes a test drive by a certified Ford mechanic and an examination by a Mustang restoration company in business for over 15 years. Included in this sale will be a three ring binder containing the results of many hours of research. This includes but is not limited to: a clean Carfax Report, Complete Warranty History, Mileage Detail History, Copies of all titles, Copy of article from June 2007 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords magazine that tells the story of the “Niche Engine Assembly Line” that produced the Ford GT, the 2004 Terminator, 96-98 Cobra and the present line of GT 500 engines. This car is as close to new as any 9,000+ mile vehicle you will ever see. I have kept it in my garage since I bought it on 7/27/2009. I do not believe this Mustang has ever been driven in the rain or snow. The underneath of the car is as clean as the exterior and interior. There is one small paint chip on the right side of the rear body panel. It has been touched up and is barely visible. The buyer for this car will probably have one of two purchase motives. The first is to purchase this rare car for its long term investment potential --- this was my original goal --- or you want a performance Mustang at a reasonable price. If the latter is the case let me give you the benefit of my research. 2011 Shelby GT500 550 HP Base Price $48,725 2009/10 Shelby GT500 (Used) 500 HP Base Price $40,000 2004 SVT Cobra Terminator 430 HP Buy Now Price $25,000 If you want a 500+ HP performance Mustang, you will have to pay close to $50,000 for a new Shelby GT500 or close to $40,000 for a good used low mileage 2009/10 model. However this 2004 SVT Cobra model has tons of reasonably priced performance options. In fact an article in 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords from May 2006 details how horse power can be raised to over 500 and torque increased more than 140 ft. lbs. on a $1,200 budget. That means you have a practically new Mustang with Shelby GT power for over $20,000 less than a new model. With a slightly bigger budget you can push the horsepower rating to 600 or more. Another interesting point is the 2004 Cobra has independent rear suspension, the Shelby GT 500 does not. Regardless of your interest, please email any questions.
