Vehicle Detail

1977 International Traveler (Scout II with a 118" wheelbase). This is a clean project rig that has been in Northern California all of it's life (It has ALL of it's original CA smog equipment installed) . The rig is about as stock as you can find, it has been minimally tampered with, only the cruise control has been removed and someone drilled some holes in the stock air cleaner housing. It has minimal rust, just at the normal places around the rear wheel wells and passenger side kick panel. The rust isn't very apparent in the photos, but it is there. The floorboards are solid. It sat outside at a private campground where it was used for a camp runabout for a seasonal guest. It has minimal body damage, the worst of it is a 1.5" hole punched in the fiberglass liftgate and a dent on the rear quarter panel. Other than that it just has minor dings and is very straight for an old IH. Most of the damage is from it sitting unused outside (it sat unused for about 20 years!), the midas custom panels in the interior were all destroyed from the weather and have been removed. It has swivel captains chairs up front, and buckets for the back seats. The interior suffered from moisture, lots of corrosion on seat hardware, etc. Door latches work great, windows mechanisms do not. Other bad things about it... windshield is cracked, passenger side mirror is missing the glass, and the keyed ignition switch will work with or without a key. Now... Just to make this clear, this is a project rig. It has several issues that prevent it from being driven as it sits. The most important one is that the rear brakes need to be replaced, along with the brake hard lines on the rear axle. The next most important issue is that it has the stock Holley 2210C carburetor, that despite many attempts by me, is still not correct and will not run reliably. Since I've never had it running well, i'm also not certain that the automatic transmission is 100%, however it does drive forward and back when it is running. Other than those issues, it just needs a general look over and lots of little things done to it. The interior is taken apart and it needs the center console and dash re-assembled. Also the lift gate will not latch, and the pneumatic cylinders are missing. It has a clean California title in my name and is currently registered Non-Op with no back-fees. Here is what I have done to it.Replaced the old tires with good used 31/10.50's that are about 7 years old and have studs (you can pull the studs if you wish)Cleaned the exterior.Removed the Midas interior panels that were shot.Removed Holley "gold box" and installed Pertronix ignitor (I did as clean of a job as possible, and left the harness intact for the gold box if you wanted to go back to stock)Installed new Pertronix ignition coil.Changed engine oil and filter.Installed new mechanical fuel pump and filter.Rebuilt the front brake calipers.Replaced brake master cylinder.Replaced ignition switch.Installed new Pertronix black ignition wires. Now I have lost interest, and I've decided to sell it. Also since it is a 1977 it would require a smog check for me to register it in California which would be more trouble than it's worth to me. Really I think it is a great project rig, and it is very straight and original compared to 95% of the other used International Harvester Scouts and Travelers from the 1970's It is ready to be trailered or transported to your home or shop. It is currently stored at a friend's repair shop, and there is plenty of room to load it on your trailer, or onto a transport rig if you choose to buy it and have it hauled by a third party.
